SWD Powervolleys Düren secured a convincing 3-0 home victory over TSV Haching München in the 1. Bundesliga, winning 25-20, 25-18 and 25-23. The straight-set result was built on disciplined serving, a strong block and a calm response whenever the visitors threatened to build momentum.

Düren entered the fixture looking to establish control early, and they did exactly that. Haching München showed flashes of quality, particularly in the third set, but the home side’s physical presence at the net and greater efficiency in transition proved decisive. The win gave Düren a full three points and another important boost to their league campaign.

Match overview

The first set followed a predictable pattern: Düren served aggressively, Haching tried to play through the middle, and the home block waited. Düren’s lead grew steadily after the first technical timeout, and a late scoring run closed the set at 25-20.

The second set was even more one-sided. Haching’s reception came under sustained pressure, and Düren’s setter took full advantage by spreading the attack across the front row. The visitors managed only 18 points in the set, their lowest total of the match.

Haching improved in the third. They reduced their unforced errors, found more joy through the left-side attack and kept the score close deep into the set. But Düren’s experience showed in the final points, with two strong serves and a block sealing the sweep.

Key moments

• First set, 18-16: Düren produced a four-point burst, including an ace and a transition kill, to take control.
• Second set, 10-6: Two blocks in quick succession forced Haching into an early timeout, but the home side’s momentum was already building.
• Third set, 23-23: Düren held their nerve with a service winner and a block to close out the match.

Tactical story

Düren’s game plan was clear: serve with purpose, keep Haching away from the middle and trust the block to do the rest. That approach worked beautifully for the first two sets. Haching’s setter was often forced to play predictable balls to the pins, where Düren’s block was waiting.

The home side also controlled the tempo. Their setter varied the attack well, using the middle early to keep Haching honest before opening up the right side. In defence, Düren’s libero read the game superbly, picking up several sharp attacks and turning them into counter-attacking opportunities.

Haching’s best adjustments came in the third set, when they began using more angled shots and tips to disrupt Düren’s block. It was a smart response, but the visitors could not sustain it long enough to steal the set.

Standout performers

Düren’s opposite hitter was the standout attacking force, delivering key points in each set and finishing with a strong efficiency rate. The middle blockers also deserved credit for their work at the net, while the setter managed the offence with maturity.

For Haching München, the outside hitters fought hard, especially in the third set. The team’s libero produced several impressive defensive plays, but Haching’s serving game lacked the same bite as Düren’s and allowed the home side to run its offence comfortably for long stretches.

Season impact

The victory gives Düren momentum in the 1. Bundesliga standings and underlines their ability to close out matches efficiently at home. Clean three-set wins are valuable not only for points but also for confidence and energy management across a long season.

Haching München will take some encouragement from their third-set fight, but the match highlighted the gap between flashes of quality and consistent top-flight execution. Improving reception and reducing easy errors will be central to their next performances.

Final result: Düren 3-0 Haching München (25-20, 25-18, 25-23).
