Kris Porter Continues Career with GenSan Warriors After Rain or Shine Stint

Kris Porter is back in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), this time with the GenSan Warriors, after spending part of the previous season with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the PBA.

The veteran big man joined Rain or Shine in May 2025, giving the Elasto Painters another option in the frontcourt. His arrival marked a return to the PBA after he had previously played in the MPBL with the Batangas City Tanduay Rum Masters.

Porter is now back in the MPBL and has already seen action for GenSan during the 2026 season.

Back in the MPBL with GenSan

Porter has already made his presence felt since returning to the league.

By April, he was part of the GenSan rotation and contributing on the floor. In one of the Warriors' early-season victories, Porter finished with 17 points and two rebounds as GenSan continued its strong start to the campaign.

His role continued as GenSan pushed toward the upper end of the MPBL standings. By late May, the Warriors had put together a nine-game winning streak and moved into a share of the lead in the race for playoff spots.

For GenSan, having a player with experience in both the PBA and MPBL gives the roster another veteran option as the season develops.

From Rain or Shine Back to the MPBL

Porter's latest MPBL stint follows his time with Rain or Shine.

The 6-foot-5 big man was selected 16th overall in the 2018 PBA Draft and has played for several teams during his professional career, including NLEX and Phoenix.

After playing in the MPBL with Batangas, Porter returned to the PBA when Rain or Shine added him to its roster in May 2025.

He went on to see action for the Elasto Painters before resurfacing with the GenSan Warriors for the 2026 MPBL campaign.

The move puts Porter back in familiar surroundings. Having already spent time in both leagues, he brings experience that can be useful for a GenSan team looking to remain competitive as the season progresses.

What Porter Brings to GenSan

Porter gives the Warriors another physical presence in the frontcourt, but his value is not limited to size.

His experience gives GenSan another option in its rotation and a player who has already competed at both the PBA and MPBL levels. His early performances in 2026 have also shown that he can provide scoring when called upon.

With the 2026 MPBL season continuing, Porter has another opportunity to establish a regular role and contribute to GenSan's campaign.

For Porter, the move marks another transition between the PBA and MPBL, returning him to a league he already knows well — this time wearing GenSan colors.
