ZPC Kariba 0-1 Agama saw the visitors claim a hard-fought away victory in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, with a single second-half goal settling a tight contest at Nyamhunga Stadium. Agama defended resolutely after taking the lead and withstood late pressure to secure all three points.

One goal proves enough

The match was closely contested for long periods, with both sides cautious in possession and unwilling to leave space behind the defence. ZPC Kariba had the better of the early territory but struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised Agama block. The visitors grew into the game and began to find space in wide areas as the first half progressed.

The decisive moment came in the second half, when Agama capitalised on a defensive lapse and finished clinically. ZPC Kariba responded by pushing more players forward, but Agama’s back line held firm and the goalkeeper made the key saves required to protect the lead.

Key moments

• First half: ZPC Kariba controlled possession but were met by a compact Agama defence.
• Second half: Agama scored the breakthrough goal after a quick attack caught the home side out of shape.
• Late pressure: ZPC Kariba forced corners and shots from distance, but could not find an equaliser.
• Final whistle: Agama celebrated an important away win in a tightly balanced league fixture.

Tactical story

Agama’s game plan was built on defensive discipline and counter-attacking. They kept their lines close together, denied ZPC Kariba space in central areas, and looked to spring forward when the hosts committed bodies. That approach paid off with the only goal of the game.

ZPC Kariba will be frustrated by their lack of cutting edge. They had more of the ball and pushed Agama back for long spells, but their final ball was often predictable. Agama’s defenders dealt well with crosses, and the visitors’ midfield worked hard to protect the back four in the closing stages.

Standout performers

Agama’s goalkeeper was one of the key figures, making timely saves and commanding his box during ZPC Kariba’s late surge. The goalscorer’s composure in front of goal proved decisive, while the centre-backs produced a resilient display. For ZPC Kariba, the midfielders kept the team moving forward, but the attack lacked the sharpness to convert possession into goals.

What it means

The win gives Agama a valuable boost in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League and shows they can grind out results away from home. ZPC Kariba are left to reflect on a game they controlled for long periods but could not turn into points. In a league where fine margins matter, Agama’s ability to defend a lead proved the difference.
