MUZA FC 4-1 Kansanshi Dynamos: Ruthless MUZA Run Riot at Home

MUZA FC produced a scintillating attacking display to thrash Kansanshi Dynamos 4-1 in the Zambia Super League on Saturday. A first-half hat-trick from striker Kennedy Mwape set the tone, and a fourth goal after the break completed a comprehensive victory. Kansanshi Dynamos scored a consolation goal but were never in the contest. The win propels MUZA FC into the top three, while Kansanshi remain in relegation trouble.

Match Overview

MUZA FC started at a blistering pace and took the lead in the 7th minute when Kennedy Mwape latched onto a through ball and finished coolly. He doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute with a header from a corner, and completed his hat-trick in the 41st minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Kansanshi Dynamos pulled one back in the 55th minute through a fine individual effort from winger Brian Chanda, but any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the 78th minute when MUZA's substitute Lameck Banda added a fourth. The home side could have scored more, hitting the post twice in the closing stages.

• 23' – Mwape heads in his second from a corner.
• 41' – Mwape completes his hat-trick with a low drive.
• 55' – Brian Chanda (Kansanshi Dynamos) pulls one back.

Tactical Story

MUZA FC lined up in an attacking 4-2-3-1, with Kennedy Mwape as the focal point. Their high pressing and quick transitions overwhelmed Kansanshi Dynamos from the first whistle. The visitors, playing a 4-4-2, struggled to cope with MUZA's movement and were frequently caught out of position. MUZA's midfield duo of Chanda and Banda controlled the tempo, allowing the front four to attack at will. Kansanshi's manager tried to shore up his defence with a double substitution at half-time, but it made little difference. MUZA's relentless pressure and clinical finishing were simply too much.

Standout Players

Kennedy Mwape (MUZA FC) – The striker was unstoppable, scoring a first-half hat-trick with three different types of finish. He also hit the post and set up another chance. Lameck Banda (MUZA FC) – The substitute added gloss to the scoreline with a well-taken goal and brought fresh energy. Brian Chanda (Kansanshi Dynamos) – The winger was his team's best player, scoring a fine consolation and never giving up. John Mwansa (MUZA FC) – The goalkeeper was a spectator for long periods but made one smart save to deny Kansanshi a second.

League Impact

MUZA FC move up to third in the Zambia Super League, level on points with second-placed ZESCO United. Kansanshi Dynamos remain 15th, just one point above the relegation play-off spot. For MUZA, this was a statement of intent in the title race. Kansanshi Dynamos, meanwhile, have now conceded 12 goals in their last five matches and face a crucial relegation six-pointer next weekend against fellow strugglers. MUZA will look to continue their momentum away to Kabwe Warriors, while Kansanshi host Nkwazi.
