Flint Town 0-1 Colwyn Bay: Seagulls Grind Out Valuable Away Win in Cymru Premier

Colwyn Bay secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Flint Town in the JD Cymru Premier on October 11, 2026, thanks to a second-half goal that capped a disciplined away performance. In a match short on clear-cut chances, the Seagulls defended resolutely and took the one opportunity that came their way.

The win lifts Colwyn Bay further clear of the relegation zone and extends their improved run of form, while Flint Town are left to rue a lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

Match Overview

Flint Town started the brighter of the two sides, enjoying plenty of possession in the opening 20 minutes. However, they struggled to break down a compact Colwyn Bay defence that sat deep and looked to counter. The visitors grew into the game and created the best chance of the first half when a shot from outside the box forced a smart save from the Flint goalkeeper.

The decisive moment arrived in the 63rd minute. A quick break down the right ended with a low cross into the box, and Colwyn Bay's striker rifled the ball into the roof of the net from eight yards. Flint pushed for an equaliser, but Colwyn Bay's back four held firm, clearing several dangerous crosses and blocking shots at source.

• 63' – Colwyn Bay goal: A counter-attack is finished clinically at the near post.

Tactical Story

Flint Town lined up in a 4-3-3 and tried to use width to stretch the opponent. But Colwyn Bay's 4-4-2 mid-block proved difficult to break down, with the two banks of four remaining compact and forcing Flint into sideways passes. The visitors were happy to concede possession and hit on the break, a strategy that produced the winning goal.

Flint's manager made attacking substitutions in the final 20 minutes, switching to a back three to overload the final third. It created chances but also left space at the back, and Colwyn Bay nearly added a second on the counter. Ultimately, the Seagulls' defensive discipline was the difference.

Standout Players

Colwyn Bay goalkeeper: Made two crucial saves, including a first-half stop that kept the scores level.

Colwyn Bay right-back: Excellent in both directions, providing the assist for the goal and nullifying Flint's left-sided attacks.

Flint Town central midfielder: The home side's best player, constantly demanding the ball and trying to unlock the defence.

Table and Season Impact

Colwyn Bay move into mid-table comfort with this win, reinforcing their reputation as a tough team to beat away from home. Flint Town remain in the lower half and will need to convert possession into goals if they are to climb the standings. The Cymru Premier's split format means every point is precious, and this was a classic smash-and-grab result.
