Tactical story

Haverfordwest County’s shape gave them control throughout. Their midfield trio recycled the ball well, while the full-backs provided width and allowed the attacking players to drift into dangerous central areas. Cardiff Corinthians attempted to defend in a deep block and threaten on the break, but they struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve pressure. As the game opened up in the second half, Haverfordwest’s superior movement and sharper finishing made the difference. The clean sheet was built on disciplined defensive positioning and a goalkeeper who dealt confidently with crosses and set pieces.

Standout performers

Davies was the clear attacking headline-maker with two goals, showing good anticipation inside the box and linking well with the players around him. Thomas was also influential, driving forward from midfield and contributing both the second goal and a steady stream of progressive passes. For Cardiff Corinthians, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline respectable, while the centre-back pairing continued to battle despite the mounting pressure.

Cup impact

The 3-0 victory sends Haverfordwest County into the next round of the Welsh Cup and gives the squad confidence for the fixtures ahead. For Cardiff Corinthians AFC, the result brings an end to their cup run, but the performance offered moments of encouragement against stronger opposition. Haverfordwest will now look to carry the same level of control and attacking efficiency into their next match, while Cardiff Corinthians return to league duties with lessons to take from a demanding away tie.
