The Women's National League continued on 8 October 2026 with a tightly contested fixture at home, where Hồ Chí Minh City Women edged out Than KSVN Women by a single goal, finishing 1-0. In a match that always promised to be decided by fine margins, the hosts found the breakthrough and then defended it with discipline, collecting three valuable points in front of their own supporters.

Match Overview

Hồ Chí Minh City Women came into the game as one of the more settled sides in the Vietnamese women's top flight, and the pattern of the contest reflected that. They controlled possession in the opening half, circulated the ball patiently through midfield and looked to stretch Than KSVN Women down the flanks. The visitors, well organised and compact, sat in a mid-to-low block and looked to spring forward on the counter, a plan that kept them level for long stretches of the first half.

The decisive moment arrived when the hosts finally converted sustained pressure into a goal. Once ahead, Hồ Chí Minh City Women managed the game intelligently, slowing the tempo and forcing their opponents to chase. Than KSVN Women pushed more players forward in search of an equaliser, but the home defence held firm to preserve a clean sheet.

Key Moments

• The opening goal: A patient build-up from the home side ended with a composed finish that beat the Than KSVN goalkeeper, the moment that separated the two teams on the night.
• Goalkeeping resilience: Both keepers were busy, with the Hồ Chí Minh City Women shot-stopper producing important saves to protect the lead.
• Late pressure: Than KSVN Women threw bodies forward in the closing stages, winning set-pieces and forcing a series of defensive clearances, but they could not find the equaliser.

Tactical Story

The match was a classic contest between control and counter-attack. Hồ Chí Minh City Women built patiently from the back, using their midfield as a pivot to switch play and create overloads, while Than KSVN Women relied on compact lines and quick transitions. The difference came down to efficiency: the hosts took their chance, while the visitors, despite several promising breaks, lacked the final pass in the attacking third.

Defensively, the home side's back line was excellent. Their positioning neutralised Than KSVN's direct runs in behind, and their discipline in the final twenty minutes, when the game became stretched, was the foundation of the win.

Standout Performers

The goalscorer naturally took the headlines, but the home midfield deserves credit for dictating the rhythm of the match and shielding the defence during the visitors' best spells. For Than KSVN Women, their goalkeeper and central defenders were among the best on the pitch, keeping the scoreline close and giving their team a chance right up to the final whistle.

What It Means for the Table

Three points keep Hồ Chí Minh City Women firmly in the upper reaches of the Women's National League standings, strengthening their position in the title conversation. For Than KSVN Women, the narrow defeat is a frustrating result but not a damaging performance; on another night, with slightly better finishing, they could have taken something from the game. Both sides now turn their attention to their next league fixtures, with momentum very much on the hosts' side.
