SHB Da Nang 1-5 XM Hai Phong FC produced a stunning away performance in the Vietnam National Champion League on 17 October 2026, with Hai Phong running riot at Hòa Xuân Stadium. The visitors scored twice in the first half and added three more after the break to secure one of the most emphatic results of the round.

Match overview

Hai Phong set the tone early, pressing Da Nang’s back line and attacking with numbers whenever they won the ball. The opener came from a quick transition, with Joseph Mpande finishing calmly after being played through on goal. Da Nang briefly threatened an equaliser, but Hai Phong’s second goal before half-time gave them a cushion that never looked in danger.

The second half was one-way traffic. Hai Phong’s midfield overwhelmed Da Nang’s attempts to build from the back, and the visitors added further goals through Lê Mạnh Dũng, Nguyễn Hữu Sơn and a late finish from substitute Trần Văn Long. Da Nang’s consolation came from Nguyễn Minh Tâm, but it was little more than a brief moment of relief on a difficult evening.

Key moments

• Early breakthrough: Joseph Mpande opens the scoring after a rapid Hai Phong counterattack.
• First-half cushion: Mpande doubles his tally before the interval.
• Second-half collapse: Lê Mạnh Dũng and Nguyễn Hữu Sơn extend the lead.
• Consolation: Nguyễn Minh Tâm pulls one back for SHB Da Nang.
• Late fifth: Trần Văn Long completes the rout for XM Hai Phong FC.

Tactical story

Hai Phong’s victory was built on aggressive pressing and clinical finishing. They refused to let Da Nang settle in possession, forcing turnovers in midfield and immediately attacking the space behind the home defence. Mpande’s movement was particularly difficult to handle, while the supporting runners from midfield arrived in the box at the right moments. Da Nang, by contrast, looked stretched whenever they lost the ball and struggled to protect their centre-backs.

Standout players

Joseph Mpande was the standout performer, scoring twice and occupying the Da Nang defence throughout. Lê Mạnh Dũng and Nguyễn Hữu Sơn added quality in the final third, while Trần Văn Long’s late goal underlined the depth available to Hai Phong. For Da Nang, Nguyễn Minh Tâm took his consolation goal well, but the team’s defensive organization will be a major concern for the coaching staff.

Season impact

The 5-1 win is a major statement from XM Hai Phong FC and gives them momentum in the Vietnam National Champion League standings. It also delivers a heavy blow to SHB Da Nang’s confidence, especially at home, and raises questions about their defensive resilience ahead of the next round. Hai Phong’s goal difference received a significant boost, which could matter in a tight race for the top positions.
