Cong An Ho Chi Minh City secure narrow 1-0 away win at Ninh Binh FC

Cong An Ho Chi Minh City claimed a valuable 1-0 away victory over Ninh Binh FC in the Vietnam National Champion League on October 25, 2026, with a single goal proving enough to separate the sides. The visitors produced a disciplined and efficient performance, defending their lead with maturity after taking the advantage.

For Ninh Binh FC, the defeat was a frustrating one. The home side enjoyed spells of possession and pushed for an equaliser, but they were unable to find a way through a well-organised Cong An Ho Chi Minh City defence. The result adds three important away points for the visitors and leaves Ninh Binh reflecting on a match in which they lacked a cutting edge.

Match overview

The first half was evenly contested, with both teams cautious in the opening minutes. Ninh Binh FC looked to build from midfield and use the width of the pitch, while Cong An Ho Chi Minh City were content to absorb pressure and strike on the break. The decisive moment arrived when the visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse, finishing calmly to take a 1-0 lead.

After the goal, the match became a test of patience. Ninh Binh FC increased their tempo in the second half, moving the ball quicker and sending more players forward. Cong An Ho Chi Minh City dropped deeper, protected the central areas and relied on quick counterattacks to relieve pressure. Despite several crosses and set pieces, Ninh Binh could not find the equaliser.

Key moments

• Cong An Ho Chi Minh City took the lead with a composed finish after winning possession in a dangerous area.
• Ninh Binh FC’s best chance of the first half came from a set piece, but the header was directed straight at the goalkeeper.
• Early in the second half, the home side forced a sharp save from the visiting goalkeeper as they searched for an immediate response.
• In the closing minutes, Ninh Binh sent a series of crosses into the box, but the Cong An defence headed clear every danger.

Tactical story

Cong An Ho Chi Minh City’s game plan was clear: stay compact, deny space between the lines and attack quickly when turnovers occurred. Their midfield worked hard to screen the back four, and the defensive line held a disciplined shape throughout. That structure made it difficult for Ninh Binh to create clear shooting opportunities, even when the home side dominated possession.

Ninh Binh FC’s attacking play improved after the break, particularly when their full-backs pushed higher and the wingers moved inside. However, the final ball was often too heavy or too close to the goalkeeper. The home side’s inability to convert territorial pressure into genuine chances was the story of the night, while Cong An’s game management in the final 20 minutes was excellent.

Standout performers

The Cong An Ho Chi Minh City goalkeeper was dependable when called upon, commanding his area well during Ninh Binh’s late surge. The visitors’ central defenders were also outstanding, winning crucial headers and blocking shots at key moments. For Ninh Binh, the midfield controller kept the team moving forward and rarely wasted possession, but the attacking line lacked the final touch.

Table and season impact

This 1-0 away win is the kind of result that can shape a season in the Vietnam National Champion League. Cong An Ho Chi Minh City take three points and valuable momentum, while Ninh Binh FC are left to rue a missed opportunity at home. The visitors’ defensive resilience will be a major positive, but Ninh Binh will need to find more creativity in the final third if they are to turn possession into points in their next fixtures.
