Tactical Story

Academia Puerto Cabello B's high pressing was a key factor in the win. Their midfield trio worked tirelessly to close down Deportivo Lara's deep-lying playmakers, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The home team's willingness to attack through the channels also stretched the visitors' backline, creating space for the second goal.

Deportivo Lara enjoyed more possession (54% to 46%) but struggled to break down a compact and organized defense. Their best moments came from set pieces, but they lacked a cutting edge in open play. The introduction of fresh legs in the second half gave them a brief spark, but the equalizer was cancelled out by a moment of quality from the home side.

Standout Players

The Academia Puerto Cabello B goalkeeper was instrumental, making two crucial saves, including a first-half stop that kept the score level at 0-0. The home captain in midfield controlled the tempo and provided the assist for the opening goal. Up front, the striker's movement caused constant problems, and he was rewarded with the opening goal.

For Deportivo Lara, their veteran center-back was a composed presence, winning several aerial duels, while their substitute winger added directness in the final 20 minutes. However, the team's failure to convert possession into clear chances ultimately cost them.

Season Impact

With this 2-1 win, Academia Puerto Cabello B move up the Venezuela Segunda Division standings, strengthening their position in the upper half of the table. Although reserve teams are not eligible for promotion to the top flight, the result is a valuable boost for the development of the club's young players.

Deportivo Lara, meanwhile, remain in the mid-table battle and will need to improve their away form if they are to challenge for a playoff spot. The defeat leaves them with work to do as the season progresses. Next up, Academia Puerto Cabello B will look to build on this victory, while Deportivo Lara return home hoping to bounce back.
