Deportivo Lara and Urena SC shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Estadio Metropolitano de Lara in the Venezuela Cup. The match, played on 13 July 2026, saw both teams cancel each other out in a tactically cautious encounter that offered few clear sights of goal.

Match Overview

Deportivo Lara, one of the more experienced sides in Venezuelan football, dominated possession in the first half but could not translate that into meaningful chances. Urena SC, a younger and more energetic outfit, relied on quick transitions and pressing to unsettle the hosts. Despite a few half‑openings, neither goalkeeper was seriously tested.

Key Moments

• Missed Header (28’) – Deportivo Lara’s striker rose highest from a free kick but guided his header straight at the Urena keeper.
• Long‑Range Effort (55’) – A powerful shot from outside the box by Urena’s attacking midfielder forced a diving save, the best moment of the match.
• Late Pressure (83’) – The home side pushed forward in the closing stages, but a last‑ditch tackle denied a clear shooting opportunity.

Tactical Story

Deportivo Lara’s 4‑2‑3‑1 formation aimed to control the midfield through short passing triangles. Urea SC sat deeper in a 5‑4‑1, congesting central areas and daring the hosts to cross. The visitors’ compact shape largely succeeded, with Deportivo Lara’s wide players often isolated.

Standout Players

Deportivo Lara’s defensive midfielder broke up play effectively, making five interceptions. For Urena SC, the left‑back showed impressive recovery pace to snuff out counter‑attacks. The match lacked a standout attacker, underscoring the defensive nature of the contest.

Competition Context

The result leaves both teams still searching for their first win in the Venezuela Cup group phase. Deportivo Lara will be the more disappointed, given their home advantage and greater experience. Urena SC, however, will take confidence from a resilient display on the road.
