Redlands FC delivered a dominant attacking display at home, thrashing the Southern California Eagles 5-1 in a USL League Two fixture played under sunny skies. The result kept Redlands firmly in the hunt for the Southwest Division title.

First-Half Onslaught

Redlands came flying out of the gates and took the lead in the 6th minute when midfielder Jose Estrada nodded in a corner kick. The floodgates opened soon after. Striker Alonzo Martinez doubled the advantage with a close-range finish in the 19th minute, and winger Kevin Santos made it 3-0 with a curling effort from the edge of the box just before the half-hour mark.

The Eagles managed to pull one back in the 39th minute through a scrappy goal from David Ochoa, but Redlands restored their three-goal cushion just before halftime. Marcus Webb latched onto a through ball and slotted past the keeper to make it 4-1 at the break.

Second-Half Control

Redlands eased off the gas in the second half, but still added a fifth goal in the 63rd minute when substitute Tyler Nguyen finished off a fast counter-attack. The home side’s defense, marshaled by captain Ryan Porter, limited the Eagles to only a few hopeful long-range efforts after the interval.

What It Means

The emphatic victory moved Redlands FC to second place in the division standings, level on points with leaders FC Golden State Force but with a game in hand. The Eagles, meanwhile, slid to seventh and face a difficult path to the playoffs.
