Rhode Island FC delivered a commanding 3-1 road victory over Brooklyn FC in the USL Championship on October 4, 2026, converting their chances with clinical efficiency and handing the home side a difficult result in front of their own supporters.

Match Overview

Rhode Island controlled large portions of the contest, scoring early and then answering Brooklyn's second-half push with two more goals to seal the win. Brooklyn managed a late consolation, but the visitors were the sharper team in both boxes and deserved the three points.

The win is a significant one in the USL Championship standings, where every road result can shape the playoff picture. For Brooklyn FC, it was a night of frustration: plenty of possession, but not enough cutting edge until the game was already beyond reach.

Key Moments

• 15th minute – Rhode Island 1-0: Albert Dikwa pounced on a defensive giveaway and slotted a low finish past the Brooklyn goalkeeper.
• 52nd minute – Rhode Island 2-0: Noah Fuson doubled the lead with a composed finish after a quick Rhode Island counterattack.
• 78th minute – Brooklyn FC 1-2: Lucas Pereira gave the home crowd hope with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area.
• 88th minute – Rhode Island 3-1: Jojea Kwizera sealed the result, finishing off a breakaway as Brooklyn pushed numbers forward.

Tactical Story

Rhode Island lined up with a compact 4-2-3-1 and invited Brooklyn to play through the middle before springing forward on the counter. That strategy worked perfectly in the first half, as Brooklyn's high full-backs left space in behind and Rhode Island repeatedly attacked that channel. The early goal forced Brooklyn to chase the game, which only increased the visitors' opportunities on the break.

Brooklyn improved after the interval, moving the ball faster and committing more players into the final third. Pereira's goal came during their best spell, but Rhode Island's defensive discipline held firm. The third goal was the perfect illustration of the game's tactical battle: Brooklyn committed too many bodies forward, and Rhode Island punished them with a direct, decisive counter.

Standout Players

• Albert Dikwa (Rhode Island FC): Opened the scoring and led the line with strength and intelligent movement.
• Noah Fuson (Rhode Island FC): Added the crucial second goal and constantly stretched Brooklyn's defense.
• Jojea Kwizera (Rhode Island FC): Put the game out of reach with a composed finish in the closing minutes.
• Lucas Pereira (Brooklyn FC): Brooklyn's best attacking player and scorer of their lone goal.

Season Impact

Rhode Island FC's win boosts their position in the USL Championship playoff race and underlines their ability to perform on the road against Eastern Conference rivals. Brooklyn FC remain a competitive side but will be disappointed to concede three goals at home, especially after enjoying decent spells of possession. The result adds important momentum to Rhode Island's campaign and gives them a valuable head-to-head edge in any future tiebreakers.
