Miramar Misiones FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Uruguay Montevideo in the Uruguay Segunda League on September 20, 2026. A single second-half goal was enough to separate the two sides in a tense, tactical encounter. The win moves Miramar Misiones up the table and extends their unbeaten run on home soil.

Match Overview

The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams prioritising defensive solidity. Uruguay Montevideo sat deep and looked to frustrate their hosts, while Miramar Misiones struggled to find rhythm in the final third. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 63rd minute when Facundo Silvera reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and fired home from close range. Uruguay Montevideo pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Miramar's defence held firm to claim all three points.

Key Moments

• 63' – Goal (Miramar Misiones): Facundo Silvera pounces on a defensive scramble and smashes the ball into the net.
• 71' – Yellow card (Uruguay Montevideo): A cynical foul stops a promising Miramar counter-attack.
• 84' – Double save: Miramar's goalkeeper produces two reflex stops to deny Uruguay Montevideo an equaliser.
• 90+4' – Last chance: Uruguay Montevideo heads a corner wide as the final whistle approaches.

Tactical Story

Miramar Misiones lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and looked to control the game through patient build-up play. Uruguay Montevideo, meanwhile, deployed a 5-3-2 formation without the ball, making it difficult for the hosts to find space between the lines. The deadlock was broken when Miramar increased the tempo and forced a mistake. After taking the lead, the home side dropped deeper and invited pressure, but their back four remained organised and disciplined. Uruguay Montevideo's lack of a clinical finisher proved costly.

Standout Players

Facundo Silvera was the hero for Miramar Misiones, not only for his goal but for his tireless running and hold-up play. The midfielder-turned-forward caused problems all afternoon with his movement. Matias Gonzalez was a rock at the back, winning several crucial headers. For Uruguay Montevideo, goalkeeper Diego Ferreira kept his side in the game with a string of saves, while captain Nicolas Pereyra tried to drive his team forward from midfield.

Table Impact

This victory lifts Miramar Misiones into a more comfortable position in the Uruguay Segunda League standings, narrowing the gap to the promotion places. Uruguay Montevideo remain in the lower half and will need to start converting chances if they are to climb the table. The result sets up an intriguing next round of fixtures, with Miramar looking to build on this momentum.
