Tactical Story

Peñarol Reserve dictated the rhythm from midfield, using short passing and intelligent movement to pull Maldonado out of shape. Their three goals came from different patterns of play: a turnover, a patient build-up, and a rapid counter. That variety made them extremely difficult to defend against, and Maldonado struggled to maintain their structure for the full 90 minutes.

Deportivo Maldonado Reserves tried to press high in the opening quarter, but once Peñarol bypassed that pressure, the home side dropped deeper and invited more attacks. Their best spell came after the third goal, when they played with greater freedom and finally found a way through. By then, however, the game was already beyond reach.

Standout Players

Díaz set the tone with his early goal and relentless running, while González controlled midfield and scored a fine second. Alonso’s late goal was the product of intelligent positioning and calm finishing. For Deportivo Maldonado Reserves, Larrazábal deserved credit for his persistence and late header, and their goalkeeper made several strong saves to keep the score respectable.

Table and Season Impact

The three points strengthen Peñarol Reserve’s position in the Uruguay Reserve League and underline their credentials as one of the teams to watch this season. Deportivo Maldonado Reserves remain in need of consistency, particularly against the stronger reserve sides. With the campaign progressing, Peñarol Reserve will be pleased with both the result and the performance, while Maldonado must turn promising spells into full-match displays.
