Match Overview

Defensor started brightly and took the lead inside the opening 20 minutes. They controlled possession and created chances at will, adding a second before half-time. Boston River tried to respond after the break, but Defensor’s defence held firm and a third goal late on sealed a comprehensive win. The scoreline flattered the visitors, who were second-best throughout.

Tactical Story

Defensor set up in a 4-3-3 and pressed high, forcing Boston River into long balls that were easily intercepted. The midfield trio of Rodríguez, Agustín Olivera and Sebastián Cáceres controlled the tempo, while the front three were constantly on the move. Boston River struggled to build from the back and were often reduced to speculative efforts from distance. Defensor’s full-backs pushed high, creating overloads in wide areas.

Standout Players

Facundo Silva was a constant threat, scoring one and assisting another. Matías Rodríguez was dominant in midfield, breaking up play and arriving late in the box. Nicolás Fernández’s pace caused problems all evening. For Boston River, goalkeeper Bruno Acosta made several saves to keep the score respectable.

Table Impact

The three points move Defensor Sporting Reserve up the Uruguay Reserve League table, keeping them in contention for the top spots. Boston River Reserve remain in the lower half and will need to improve defensively if they are to climb. Defensor’s next fixture will be an opportunity to build on this momentum.
