CA River Plate Reserves 0-4 La Luz Reserves: La Luz soar to emphatic away victory

La Luz Reserves produced a commanding away performance in the Uruguay Reserve League on October 13, 2026, defeating CA River Plate Reserves 4-0. The visitors were sharper in both boxes, scoring at key moments and then controlling the game with maturity.

Final score: CA River Plate Reserves 0, La Luz Reserves 4.

Match overview

CA River Plate Reserves started with plenty of possession, but they struggled to turn that control into clear chances. La Luz defended in a compact block and looked dangerous every time they won the ball back. The opening goal changed the psychology of the match, and from that point on, La Luz were the more confident and decisive team.

River Plate’s defence was repeatedly exposed on the counterattack, and La Luz added a second before half-time. Two more goals after the break completed a thoroughly professional away display.

Key moments

• 14th minute: La Luz took the lead with a fast counterattack. A forward ran onto a through ball and finished calmly past the goalkeeper.
• 41st minute: The second came from a corner, with a powerful header from the centre-back giving the goalkeeper no chance.
• 63rd minute: La Luz made it 3-0 after a mistake in the River Plate midfield. The ball was played quickly into the box and slotted home at the near post.
• 82nd minute: The fourth goal capped a flowing move, finished with a first-time shot from the edge of the area.

Tactical story

La Luz Reserves set up in a disciplined 4-4-2, prioritising shape and quick transitions. Their two forwards worked tirelessly to press River Plate’s centre-backs, while the wide midfielders dropped deep to block passing lanes. When La Luz won possession, they moved the ball forward with purpose and often caught River Plate with too many players committed to the attack.

River Plate Reserves used a 4-2-3-1 but lacked penetration in the final third. Their No. 10 found little space between the lines, and their full-backs were vulnerable to La Luz’s counterattacks. It was a frustrating night for the home side, who were unable to match La Luz’s intensity.

Standout performers

La Luz’s centre-forward was outstanding, scoring one goal and assisting another with intelligent movement. The centre-back who scored the second goal was dominant in the air and composed on the ball. In midfield, La Luz’s captain controlled the rhythm of the game and protected the back four efficiently.

For CA River Plate Reserves, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, while their central midfielder tried to drive the team forward. However, the defensive unit as a whole struggled to contain La Luz’s direct running.

Season impact

The three points lift La Luz Reserves in the Uruguay Reserve League table and underline their potential to challenge for a high finish. CA River Plate Reserves, meanwhile, will need to review their defensive organisation and transition cover. A 4-0 home defeat is a significant setback, but the reserve league schedule offers a quick chance for redemption.
