SC Poltava B 0-3 Atlet Kiev: Clinical Visitors Take the Points

Atlet Kiev produced a disciplined and efficient away performance in the Ukrainian Second League on Monday, defeating SC Poltava B 3-0. The visitors scored at key moments in the match, absorbed pressure when required, and punished their hosts' defensive lapses with three well-taken goals. For SC Poltava B, it was a frustrating evening in which promising spells of possession went unrewarded.

Match Overview

The game began at a high tempo, with SC Poltava B looking to impose themselves on home turf and press aggressively in the opposition half. For the first twenty minutes they succeeded, forcing Atlet Kiev into a series of clearances and winning a number of corners. But the visitors defended those set pieces well and gradually played their way into the contest.

Once Atlet Kiev established a foothold in midfield, the momentum shifted decisively. Their midfield trio began to find pockets of space between the lines, and the front players stretched the Poltava back four with intelligent runs. The opening goal arrived against the run of early play, and it changed the entire complexion of the match.

Key Moments

• 23' – Opening goal: Oleh Bondarenko struck first for Atlet Kiev, finishing calmly after being played through one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
• 41' – Crucial save: SC Poltava B's goalkeeper denied a second goal with a strong low stop, keeping his side within touching distance at the break.
• 57' – Second goal: Mykola Havryliuk doubled the lead with a header from a corner, arriving late at the near post.

Tactical Story

Atlet Kiev's game plan was simple but executed with precision: defend the box in numbers, win the second balls, and attack quickly through the channels. Their centre-backs were dominant in the air, and their holding midfielder screened the space in front of the defence effectively, cutting off the supply lines to SC Poltava B's strikers.

SC Poltava B's problem was the speed at which they moved the ball. Their build-up was patient to the point of predictability, allowing Atlet Kiev to shift across and stay compact. When the hosts did break through, they lacked precision in the final pass, and their crossing from wide areas was comfortably dealt with.

Standout Players

Oleh Bondarenko was the visitors' standout, combining sharp movement with composed finishing and pressing diligently from the front. Mykola Havryliuk's aerial presence in both boxes was another decisive factor, and Dmytro Sydorenko's goal capped a lively second-half cameo. For SC Poltava B, the goalkeeper deserved credit for a string of saves, and their left winger was the most persistent attacking threat.

What It Means for the Table

Three points on the road, a clean sheet and a three-goal margin represent an excellent night's work for Atlet Kiev, who will take real confidence from the manner of the victory. It is the sort of result that can spark a run of form in a competitive division.

SC Poltava B remain with work to do. Their young squad showed energy and intent, but the game underlined the importance of ruthlessness at both ends of the pitch. Converting early pressure into goals, and defending set pieces more aggressively, will be the priorities in training this week.
