Key moments

The second half was a different contest. Zorya pushed their full-backs higher and began to pin Chornomorets back, forcing the visitors into a series of defensive clearances. The decisive moment arrived in the 72nd minute when Mykola Bondar timed his run into the penalty area perfectly and side-footed a first-time finish past the goalkeeper. Chornomorets responded with late pressure, but Zorya’s defence held firm through five minutes of stoppage time.

Tactical story

Zorya controlled possession for long periods but initially struggled to break down a deep and compact Chornomorets block. The key adjustment was the increased width after half-time, which stretched the away side’s back line and created space between the full-backs and centre-backs. Chornomorets’ counterattacking plan worked well in the opening half-hour, but as the game wore on, their deep positioning invited too much pressure.

Standout players

Kravchuk was central to Zorya’s response, linking midfield and attack with sharp movement and intelligent passing. Bondar’s winning goal capped a strong second-half display, while Sokolov was Chornomorets’ most dangerous player and took his goal well. The away side’s goalkeeper also made several important saves to keep the scoreline close until the final minutes.

What the result means

Zorya strengthen their position in the upper half of the Ukrainian Premier League table and maintain momentum in the race for European qualification. Chornomorets remain in a difficult relegation battle; the performance showed fight, but dropping points after taking the lead will hurt. For Zorya, the comeback is another sign that they can grind out results even when not at their fluent best.
