After the break, Obolon managed the game maturely, sitting in a compact shape and hitting Veres on the counter. The second goal arrived late in the second half, putting the result beyond doubt and sending the home supporters away satisfied.

Key moments

• 45+2 minutes: Obolon Kyiv took the lead just before the interval when Oleh Kozak met a low cross at the near post and redirected it past the goalkeeper.
• 52nd minute: Veres tried to respond immediately, but a header from a corner was cleared off the line by Obolon’s defence.

• 90+3 minutes: Veres’s late pressure came to nothing as Obolon held their defensive shape and closed out the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Obolon Kyiv used a disciplined 4-4-2 defensive block, allowing Veres to have the ball in wide areas but closing the central spaces effectively. When Obolon won possession, they looked to move forward quickly through the channels, and both goals came from transitions rather than long spells of build-up. Veres struggled to break down the home side’s low block and often resorted to crosses that were comfortably dealt with by Obolon’s centre-backs.

Standout players

Oleh Kozak was Obolon’s most influential attacker, scoring the crucial opener and linking play intelligently throughout. Vitalii Bilyi’s late goal rewarded his constant running, while Obolon’s goalkeeper made a decisive save at 1-0 that preserved the lead. For Veres, their central midfielder worked tirelessly and tried to create chances, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Ukrainian Premier League impact

This result gives Obolon Kyiv an important three points in the Ukrainian Premier League table and strengthens their confidence in what is always a competitive domestic campaign. Veres will be frustrated by their inability to convert pressure into goals, and they will need to improve their attacking efficiency in the coming weeks. Obolon’s clean sheet and clinical finishing made this a complete home performance, and they will look to build on it in their next fixture.
