Faroe Islands Women U17 0-5 Latvia U17 Women — Latvia U17 Women delivered a commanding performance in the UEFA European U17 Women's Championship on 13 October 2026, defeating Faroe Islands Women U17 5-0. The victory puts Latvia in a strong position in the group and highlights their attacking potential.

Match Overview

Latvia started on the front foot and never let up, pressing the Faroe Islands high and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The Faroe Islands struggled to cope with Latvia's speed on the wings and conceded twice inside the first 25 minutes. From there, Latvia controlled the tempo, adding three more goals in the second half to complete a comprehensive win.

Latvia finished with 21 shots to the Faroe Islands' two, and their goalkeeper was largely a spectator. The midfield dominated possession, and the defence snuffed out the rare Faroese attacks with ease.

Tactical Story

Latvia U17 Women lined up in a 4-3-3 and used their wingers to isolate the Faroe Islands' full-backs. The midfield trio circulated the ball quickly, switching play from side to side to create gaps. When they lost possession, they pressed immediately, often winning the ball back within seconds.

The Faroe Islands Women U17 set up in a 4-4-2 but found it difficult to maintain their shape against Latvia's movement. Their defence dropped too deep, allowing Latvia to shoot from range, and their midfield struggled to keep hold of the ball. Despite the scoreline, the Faroese goalkeeper made a number of saves and prevented an even larger margin.

Standout Players

Elza Krūmiņa was the standout player of the match, scoring twice and causing problems throughout with her dribbling. Anete Bērziņa's aerial threat was a constant danger from set pieces, while Līga Ozola and Marta Kalniņa both scored excellent goals from midfield. The Latvian defence kept a clean sheet with minimal fuss.

For the Faroe Islands, the goalkeeper was the busiest player on the pitch and made several impressive stops. The captain tried to rally the team and never stopped running, but the team as a whole found the step up in quality difficult to handle.

Season Impact

This 5-0 win gives Latvia U17 Women a significant boost in the group stage. Their goal difference is now strong, and they will approach their next fixture with confidence. The Faroe Islands Women U17, meanwhile, face an uphill task to qualify, but the experience of competing against a technically gifted side will aid their development.

In the UEFA European U17 Women's Championship, every goal can matter in the race for qualification. Latvia's ruthless finishing and tactical discipline suggest they could be a dark horse in the tournament. For the Faroe Islands, the focus will be on learning from the defeat and producing a stronger response in their remaining matches.
