Real Sociedad Women secured a 2-0 victory over Fenerbahce SK Women in the UEFA Europa League Women, delivering a controlled home performance built on possession, pressing, and a solid defensive display. The Spanish side scored in each half and managed the game intelligently after taking the lead.

The win strengthens Real Sociedad’s position in the competition and gives them momentum in the UEFA EL W campaign. Fenerbahce SK Women showed flashes of quality on the break, but they were unable to turn their best moments into goals.

Match Overview

Real Sociedad Women set the tone early, pressing Fenerbahce’s back line and forcing errors in the visitors’ build-up. The home side dominated the ball and created the first clear chances through quick combinations in and around the penalty area. Their opening goal came midway through the first half, rewarding their control of the game.

Fenerbahce responded with a more aggressive approach after the break, looking to press higher and attack through the wide areas. But Real Sociedad managed the spaces well and added a second goal to take firm control. From there, the Spanish side defended with maturity, limiting clear chances and securing an important clean sheet.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Real Sociedad broke the deadlock with a well-worked attacking move, finishing confidently after sustained pressure.
• Fenerbahce’s response: The visitors created a promising counter-attacking chance but were denied by a strong defensive recovery.
• Second goal: Real Sociedad doubled their lead after the break, capitalising on space in the final third and finishing with composure.
• Late save: Fenerbahce pushed forward in search of a foothold, but Real Sociedad’s goalkeeper produced a key save to preserve the clean sheet.
• Game management: In the final stages, Real Sociedad kept possession effectively and limited the visitors to hopeful efforts from distance.

Tactical Story

Real Sociedad’s pressing structure was central to the win. They denied Fenerbahce time on the ball in central areas and forced the visitors into wide passes that were easier to defend. When Real Sociedad won possession, they moved the ball quickly through midfield, using wide overloads to create crossing and shooting opportunities.

Fenerbahce SK Women tried to respond with direct attacks and quick transitions. Their best spells came when they bypassed the first line of pressure and found space behind Real Sociedad’s full-backs. However, the final pass was often missing, and the Spanish side’s centre-backs dealt well with crosses and through balls.

Standout Performers

Real Sociedad’s midfield controlled the rhythm of the match, linking defence and attack and ensuring the team remained patient in possession. The wide players were influential, stretching Fenerbahce’s defence and creating space for central runners. At the back, the goalkeeper and centre-backs combined well to secure the clean sheet.

For Fenerbahce SK Women, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline manageable, while the midfield worked hard to close gaps against a technically strong opponent. The Turkish side’s best performers were in transition, but they lacked the final product needed to change the game.

What the Result Means

The three points are important for Real Sociedad Women in the UEFA Europa League Women standings. A 2-0 home win provides both confidence and goal difference value, and the clean sheet gives the team a strong foundation for the next fixture. The result also highlights their ability to control European matches against disciplined opposition.

Fenerbahce SK Women will take lessons from the defeat, particularly in how to manage possession under pressure and convert counter-attacking moments. The return fixture and remaining group games will offer chances to respond, but this night belonged to Real Sociedad.
