Kepez Belediyespor 0-1 Karsiyaka: Arslan Header Decides Tight Contest

Full-time: Kepez Belediyespor 0, Karsiyaka 1

Karsiyaka secured a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Kepez Belediyespor in the Turkish Third League on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with Cem Arslan’s second-half header proving the difference. The visitors defended intelligently, took the one clear chance that came their way and survived a late spell of pressure to leave with all three points.

Kepez Belediyespor dominated possession for long periods but struggled to turn territorial advantage into clear scoring opportunities. The result keeps Karsiyaka in the upper group of the TFF 3. Lig table and leaves Kepez reflecting on a night of missed chances.

Match Overview

Kepez Belediyespor began in a 4-2-3-1 system and looked to build through the middle, with their attacking midfielder drifting into pockets of space. Karsiyaka set up in a disciplined 4-1-4-1 formation, happy to concede possession in less dangerous areas and strike on the counter. The first half was largely a story of Kepez probing and Karsiyaka blocking.

The home side’s best early moment came in the 14th minute when a low cross flashed across the face of goal, but no one in a red shirt could apply the finish. Karsiyaka thought they had taken the lead in the 38th minute, only for the flag to go up for offside. The decisive moment arrived in the 64th minute when Cem Arslan rose highest at the near post to head home a corner.

Key Moments

• 14’ – Kepez chance: A dangerous cross from the left was inches away from a waiting striker.
• 38’ – Disallowed goal: Karsiyaka found the net, but the offside flag cut the celebration short.
• 64’ – 0-1: Cem Arslan powered a header past the goalkeeper from a well-delivered corner.
• 79’ – Red card: Kepez Belediyespor’s Emre Koç received a second yellow card, reducing the hosts to ten men.
• 90+3’ – Late save: Karsiyaka’s goalkeeper produced a reflex stop to deny a stoppage-time equaliser.

Tactical Story

Kepez Belediyespor’s build-up play was patient but predictable. Their full-backs pushed high, yet the final pass was often delayed, allowing Karsiyaka to recover into shape. When Kepez did get into wide areas, Karsiyaka’s centre-backs defended the box aggressively and cleared the danger.

Karsiyaka’s game plan was built on defensive discipline and set-piece threat. They defended deep, kept their lines close together and looked to win the ball in midfield before launching quick breaks. The winning goal came from exactly that kind of controlled, low-risk approach. After the red card, Karsiyaka managed the closing minutes professionally, slowing the tempo and taking the sting out of Kepez’s late push.

Standout Players

Cem Arslan was the match-winner, not only for his goal but also for his work rate in pressing Kepez’s deep midfielders. Karsiyaka’s goalkeeper, Efe Yalçın, was excellent throughout and made the most important save of the night in stoppage time. For Kepez Belediyespor, the midfield duo worked tirelessly, but the attacking line lacked the sharpness needed to break down a well-organised defence.

Table and Season Impact

The win keeps Karsiyaka in a strong position in the Turkish Third League standings and reinforces their reputation as one of the most difficult away teams to beat in the division. Kepez Belediyespor, meanwhile, miss the chance to gain ground on the teams above them. With the season still developing, this kind of narrow defeat can hurt, especially when it comes at home. Karsiyaka will view it as the mark of a promotion contender: winning on the road even when the performance is not spectacular.
