Amedspor claimed a notable 2-1 away win over Samsunspor in the Turkish Super League on Sunday, delivering a disciplined counter-attacking performance at the Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium. The visitors scored in each half and survived late pressure to take all three points.

Away side spring a surprise

Samsunspor started as the more aggressive team, pushing bodies forward and trying to pin Amedspor back. The hosts had plenty of possession in the opening 25 minutes, but Amedspor’s defensive structure held firm. Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead with a sharp finish after a quick break through the middle.

Samsunspor equalised early in the second half and seemed to have seized the momentum. Amedspor, however, responded well and found the winner with just over 10 minutes remaining. The closing stages were tense, with Samsunspor throwing players forward, but Amedspor defended their box with determination and managed the game intelligently.

Key moments

• 26’ – Amedspor take the lead: Burak Çoban finished a fast counter-attack with a low shot into the far corner.
• 54’ – Samsunspor equalise: Yunus Emre Çift reacted quickest in the box and bundled the ball home after a scramble.
• 67’ – Amedspor threaten again: A free-kick forced a fine save from the Samsunspor goalkeeper.
• 81’ – Amedspor find the winner: Substitute Emre Güral arrived at the back post to convert a low cross.
• 90+3’ – Late chance: Samsunspor sent a header just wide as the hosts pushed for a last-gasp equaliser.

Tactical story

Amedspor set up to absorb pressure and attack quickly when Samsunspor committed players forward. Their midfield stayed compact, forcing the hosts into wide areas, and their centre-backs dealt well with crosses for much of the match. When Amedspor won the ball back, they moved it forward with purpose and looked to exploit the space behind Samsunspor’s advanced full-backs.

Samsunspor dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances from open play. Their equaliser came from a set-piece scramble rather than a sustained attacking move, and that summed up their evening. Amedspor’s discipline and efficiency in the final third proved decisive.

Standout performers

Burak Çoban was Amedspor’s key attacking outlet, scoring the opener and stretching the Samsunspor defence throughout. Emre Güral made the decisive impact from the bench, while Amedspor’s goalkeeper commanded his area well in the closing stages. For Samsunspor, Yunus Emre Çift took his goal well, but the team lacked a cutting edge when it mattered most.

What it means for the table

The win is a significant boost for Amedspor in the Turkish Super League standings, giving them valuable momentum and points on the road. Samsunspor’s home defeat increases the pressure on the team and highlights the need to convert possession into clearer chances. Amedspor’s ability to withstand late pressure will be especially encouraging as they look to build a more consistent run in the division.
