Göztepe produced a controlled home performance to beat Corum FK 2-0 in the Turkish Super League on 26 October 2026, with a goal in each half securing a comfortable three points at the Gürsel Aksel Stadium.

Match overview

Göztepe set the tone early with aggressive pressing and quick switches of play. Corum FK sat deep in an attempt to deny space between the lines, but the home side’s width stretched the defensive block and created repeated crossing opportunities. The opening goal came midway through the first half after a patient move ended with a composed finish inside the box.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Göztepe kept the ball well, moved Corum from side to side and doubled the lead in the 76th minute with a well-worked attack down the left. Corum’s brief moments of promise came on the counter, but the visitors rarely tested Göztepe’s goalkeeper in a meaningful way.

Key moments

• 34th minute: Göztepe took the lead with a low finish after a sustained spell of pressure.
• 45+1 minute: Corum’s best chance of the first half flew wide from the edge of the box.
• 58th minute: A Göztepe header from a corner was cleared off the line.
• 76th minute: The home side doubled the advantage, finishing a flowing move down the left.
• 88th minute: Göztepe’s goalkeeper dealt comfortably with a rare Corum shot on target.

Tactical story

Göztepe’s 4-3-3 worked well because the midfield trio won most of the second balls and allowed the full-backs to advance. The left side was especially productive, with the winger isolating his marker and the overlapping full-back creating overloads. Corum FK defended in a narrow 4-4-2 block, but once Göztepe moved the ball quickly from flank to flank, gaps appeared.

Without the ball, Göztepe pressed with discipline rather than recklessness. They forced Corum into long passes and then won the aerial duels, which kept the game in the visitors’ half. Corum improved slightly after the break but never found a way to sustain pressure.

Standout performers

Göztepe’s left winger was a constant threat, involved in both goals and repeatedly beating the first defender. The central midfielder who dictated the tempo also stood out, while the centre-backs handled Corum’s direct play with little fuss.

Season impact

The win strengthens Göztepe’s position in the Turkish Super League standings and underlines their home form. For Corum FK, the defeat leaves them searching for answers away from home, where they have struggled to create clear chances. Göztepe’s ability to control matches without taking unnecessary risks will be important as the season progresses.
