Galatasaray continued their pursuit of the Turkish Super League title with a commanding 3-1 victory over Istanbul rivals Kasimpasa at Rams Park on October 10, 2026. A brace from Mauro Icardi and a second-half strike from Barış Alper Yılmaz secured the points, although Kasimpasa's late consolation briefly threatened to make things nervy in the closing stages.

Match Overview

Galatasaray started with intent, pressing Kasimpasa high and forcing early errors. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Icardi latched onto a clever through ball and finished calmly past the goalkeeper. The home side doubled their lead just before half-time, Icardi again on target, this time with a trademark header from a pinpoint cross. Kasimpasa, who had shown flashes of attacking promise, struggled to contain Galatasaray's fluid front line.

After the interval, Galatasaray added a third through Barış Alper Yılmaz, whose powerful run and low finish capped a sweeping team move. Kasimpasa pulled one back in the 74th minute through a well-placed shot from outside the box, but the visitors rarely looked capable of completing a comeback. Galatasaray managed the game professionally, controlling possession and limiting their opponents to speculative efforts.

Key Moments

• 22' – 1-0: Mauro Icardi opens the scoring with a composed finish after a defence-splitting pass.
• 44' – 2-0: Icardi doubles his tally with a towering header from a right-wing cross.
• 58' – 3-0: Barış Alper Yılmaz finishes a slick team move to put the result beyond doubt.
• 74' – 3-1: Kasimpasa grab a consolation goal with a fine long-range strike.

Tactical Story

Galatasaray lined up in a 4-2-3-1 with Lucas Torreira dictating tempo from deep and the full-backs pushing high to stretch Kasimpasa's defence. The visitors tried to press but were repeatedly undone by quick combinations in the final third. Icardi's movement between the centre-backs was particularly effective, and Kasimpasa never found a way to track his runs. Defensively, Galatasaray were solid until a momentary lapse allowed the consolation, but the back four was otherwise untroubled.

Standout Players

Mauro Icardi was the clear man of the match, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligence and aggression. His link-up play with Barış Alper Yılmaz caused constant problems. Lucas Torreira controlled the midfield, winning back possession and launching attacks with crisp passing. For Kasimpasa, Mamadou Fall was their brightest performer, scoring the consolation and testing the goalkeeper on another occasion, but he lacked support from his teammates.

League Impact

The win keeps Galatasaray firmly in the title race, maintaining pressure on their closest rivals at the top of the Turkish Super League standings. With Icardi in such scoring form, the Istanbul giants look increasingly dangerous as the season progresses. Kasimpasa, meanwhile, remain in the mid-table battle, and this defeat highlights the gap between themselves and the league's elite. Galatasaray's next fixtures will be crucial, but on this evidence, they have the firepower to sustain a serious championship challenge.
