Menemen Belediye Spor 3-0 Ankaraspor FK: Ruthless hosts strengthen promotion push in Turkish Second League

Menemen Belediye Spor produced one of their most complete performances of the Turkish Second League season on Sunday, 20 September 2026, beating Ankaraspor FK 3-0 at home. A controlled first-half opener, a clinical second-half surge and a late third goal gave the hosts a deserved three points, while a disciplined defensive display secured a valuable clean sheet.

The result was more than just a routine victory. It was a statement of intent from Menemen Belediye Spor, who used their home advantage to dictate tempo, press aggressively and punish an Ankaraspor FK side that struggled to cope with the intensity of the contest. By the final whistle, the scoreline reflected the balance of play: the home team were sharper in the final third, stronger in midfield and more composed at the back.

Match overview

From the opening minutes, Menemen Belediye Spor looked determined to take the initiative. The hosts pushed their full-backs high, crowded the central areas and forced Ankaraspor FK into hurried clearances. Their early pressure was rewarded in the 18th minute when Emre Aydın latched onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area and drove a low shot into the bottom corner.

Ankaraspor FK tried to respond through quick transitions, but the away side found little joy against a well-organized Menemen back line. The visitors' best moments came from set pieces, yet goalkeeper Mert Kaya was rarely troubled. As the first half wore on, Menemen continued to look the more likely side to score again, with Kerem Yılmaz and Okan Demir both testing the Ankaraspor goalkeeper before the break.

Key moments

• 18th minute – Emre Aydın opens the scoring: A composed finish from the edge of the box gave Menemen Belediye Spor the lead and set the tone for the afternoon.
• 54th minute – Kerem Yılmaz doubles the advantage: After a swift move down the right, Yılmaz arrived in the box to convert a precise low cross and make it 2-0.
• 82nd minute – Okan Demir seals the win: With Ankaraspor pushing forward, Menemen broke at speed and Demir finished calmly to complete a 3-0 victory.

Tactical story

Menemen Belediye Spor lined up with a flexible 4-2-3-1 system that became a 4-3-3 when they pressed. Their midfield trio suffocated Ankaraspor's attempts to play through the middle, forcing the visitors into long balls that were comfortably dealt with by the home center-backs. The hosts also dominated second balls, which allowed them to sustain attacks and keep Ankaraspor pinned back.

Ankaraspor FK, by contrast, never found a consistent rhythm. Their 4-4-2 shape left gaps between midfield and defense, and Menemen repeatedly exploited those spaces with quick vertical passes. When the away side did win possession, they were too slow to transition, giving the home team time to recover and reset.

Standout performers

Emre Aydın was central to Menemen's attacking play, not only for his goal but also for his link-up work between the lines. Kerem Yılmaz added energy and end product on the wing, while Okan Demir's late goal capped a strong substitute appearance. At the back, Mert Kaya's clean sheet was built on excellent communication and a commanding presence in the penalty area.

Turkish Second League standings impact

The three points lift Menemen Belediye Spor further into the promotion conversation and give them a healthy boost to their goal difference. For Ankaraspor FK, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of the Turkish Second League table. Menemen will take confidence from both the result and the manner of the performance as the season progresses.
