Erzincanspor Win Five-Goal Thriller 3-2 at Iskenderunspor

Erzincanspor emerged victorious from a pulsating Turkish Second League encounter at Iskenderunspor on 4 October 2026, winning 3-2 after a five-goal contest that swung back and forth throughout. The visitors showed attacking quality and composure in the final third, while Iskenderunspor’s late rally was not enough to salvage a point.

Match Overview

The game began at a high tempo, with both sides eager to attack. Iskenderunspor looked to use the width of their home pitch, stretching Erzincanspor with long diagonal passes. Erzincanspor, however, were sharp on the counter and needed only 12 minutes to take the lead. A clever run in behind the defence was picked out by a precise through ball, and the forward finished confidently past the goalkeeper.

Iskenderunspor responded well to the early setback. They increased their pressing intensity and began to win the ball higher up the pitch. Their equaliser arrived in the 34th minute after a sustained period of pressure, with a well-timed run into the box met by a low cross and converted from close range.

Just as the home side appeared to be building momentum, Erzincanspor struck again before the hour mark. A quick counter-attack ended with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, restoring the visitors’ lead. Erzincanspor then extended their advantage in the 73rd minute, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to make it 3-1.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – Erzincanspor open the scoring: A defence-splitting pass released the striker, who kept his composure and slotted the ball into the bottom corner for 1-0.
• 34th minute – Iskenderunspor equalise: The home side’s persistence paid off when a low cross from the left was turned in at the near post, bringing the score to 1-1.
• 58th minute – Erzincanspor regain the lead: A swift break ended with a shot from just outside the box that arrowed into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to his spot.
• 73rd minute – The visitors make it 3-1: A misjudged back-pass allowed Erzincanspor’s forward to intercept and round the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into the empty net.
• 89th minute – Iskenderunspor set up a tense finish: A late header from a corner made it 3-2, but Erzincanspor managed the remaining minutes to secure the win.

Tactical Story

Iskenderunspor enjoyed more possession and created a number of half-chances, but they were repeatedly exposed by Erzincanspor’s direct counter-attacking. The visitors sat in a mid-block, invited pressure, and then attacked with speed once they won the ball. Their front three rotated well, making it difficult for Iskenderunspor’s centre-backs to track runners.

Iskenderunspor’s defensive line played high at times, and that proved costly. Erzincanspor’s second and third goals both came from quick transitions into the space behind. The home side fought until the end and scored a late consolation, but they could not find the equaliser despite throwing bodies forward in the final minutes.

Standout Players

Erzincanspor’s centre-forward was the game’s outstanding player, scoring once and creating problems with his movement all evening. The attacking midfielder also impressed, providing the assist for the opening goal and driving the counter-attacks. For Iskenderunspor, the winger was a constant threat and delivered the cross for the equaliser, while the substitute who scored the late header gave the home fans a final moment of hope.

Season Impact

The three points are a significant boost for Erzincanspor, who showed they can win in different ways and punish teams on the break. Iskenderunspor, meanwhile, will be frustrated by defensive lapses that undid much of their good attacking work. In a competitive Turkish Second League campaign, the result could prove important for both sides as they jostle for position in the table.
