Kirklarelispor 0-0 Bayburt Spor Kulubu — the Turkish Cup tie between Kirklarelispor and Bayburt Spor Kulubu finished goalless after 120 minutes of football on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, with the two sides unable to be separated before the drama of a penalty shootout decided who would progress.

Played under the lights at the Kırklareli Atatürk Stadium, the match was everything a cup night in the lower tiers of Turkish football should be: tight, physical, tactically cautious and utterly absorbing in its tension. Neither goalkeeper was beaten across normal time and extra time, and the contest ultimately came down to nerve from twelve yards.

• Competition: TUR Kupası (Turkish Cup)
• Fixture: Kirklarelispor vs Bayburt Spor Kulubu
• Date: 6 October 2026

How the Tie Unfolded

Both sides approached the fixture with a clear priority: avoid the mistake that ends a cup run. The first half was a measured, cagey affair, dominated by duels in midfield and long balls into channels rather than intricate passing moves. Kirklarelispor, backed by a vocal home support, saw more of the ball but struggled to turn possession into clear sights of goal.

Bayburt Spor Kulubu were the more dangerous side on the break. Their front players pressed aggressively, forcing a handful of hurried clearances, and their best chance of the opening period came from a set piece — a whipped delivery flicked narrowly over the crossbar.

The second half followed a similar pattern, though the tempo lifted as legs tired and gaps began to appear. Kirklarelispor's wingers started to find space behind the visiting full-backs, and two dangerous crosses flashed across the six-yard box without a decisive touch. At the other end, a trademark counter-attack ended with a shot deflected wide for a corner.

Extra time brought the game's most dramatic moment: a goal-bound effort blocked on the line by a defender throwing himself in front of the ball, a piece of defending that drew applause from both sets of supporters. The scoreline stayed level, and the tie moved to penalties.

Penalty Shootout

In the shootout, composure trumped power. Kirklarelispor's takers held their nerve, converting the decisive kicks to send the home crowd home happy and end Bayburt Spor Kulubu's cup campaign in the cruellest possible fashion. It was a harsh outcome for a visiting side that had defended with commitment and organisation throughout the 120 minutes.

Tactical Notes

• Kirklarelispor: Patient in possession, built patiently from the back, and looked most threatening when their wide players attacked the byline. Their defensive line held a high line well and were rarely beaten in behind.
• Bayburt Spor Kulubu: Sat compact, pressed in coordinated bursts and relied on quick transitions. Set pieces were clearly a pre-planned weapon and caused problems throughout.
• Key theme: Two evenly matched teams, neither willing to gamble. In knockout football, that usually means fine margins — and so it proved.

What It Means

For Kirklarelispor, progress in the Turkish Cup brings a welcome financial boost, a shot at a higher-profile opponent in the next round and a lift for the club's league campaign. Cup runs at this level are about more than silverware: they generate local interest, fill the stands and give players a stage to prove themselves.

For Bayburt Spor Kulubu, the exit will sting, but the performance offered plenty of encouragement. A clean sheet away from home against a well-organised opponent is a platform to build on, and the squad can return to league duty knowing they matched their hosts across two hours of football.

The goalless draw will not be remembered for goals, but it will be remembered locally for its tension — the kind of cup night that lower-league supporters in Turkey know better than anyone.
