Eskisehirspor delivered a statement performance in the TUR Kupası on 8 October 2026, sweeping aside Akhisarspor 4-1 in a tie that was effectively decided long before the final whistle. The Eskişehir club combined sharp pressing with ruthless finishing, turning a contest that looked evenly matched on paper into a one-sided cup rout.

Match Overview

The TUR Kupası has always been a competition where lower-tier sides can dream, and Eskisehirspor leaned fully into that tradition. From the opening minutes they pushed their defensive line high, squeezed the space in midfield and forced Akhisarspor into hurried clearances. The visitors, a club with genuine cup pedigree and a famous trophy in their cabinet, never settled into a rhythm.

By the time the half-hour mark arrived, the home side had already established the pattern of the game: quick switches of play to the flanks, aggressive second balls, and a willingness to shoot from the edge of the box. Akhisarspor's back line, stretched repeatedly, could not cope with the tempo.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Eskisehirspor break the deadlock. A short corner is worked back to the edge of the area and drilled low through a crowded penalty box, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
• 34th minute: A turnover in midfield becomes a three-pass counter-attack, finished calmly at the near post. The cushion is doubled and the stadium rises.
• 41st minute: Akhisarspor pull one back against the run of play, a header from a deep free-kick that briefly silenced the home support.
• 62nd minute: The response is immediate in the second half. A driving run from midfield draws two defenders and the cut-back is converted from twelve yards.
• 79th minute: The scoring is completed with the best goal of the night, a first-time strike from the edge of the box after patient circulation around the opposition penalty area.

Tactical Story

The defining feature of the match was Eskisehirspor's counter-press. Every time possession was lost in the attacking third, two players converged on the ball carrier within seconds. That approach generated the turnovers that produced the second and fourth goals, and it kept Akhisarspor pinned so deep that their front two became isolated spectators.

Akhisarspor's best moments came from set pieces, where their height advantage caused occasional panic. But in open play they were second best in every department: slower to the ball, looser in the tackle, and increasingly frustrated as the scoreline stretched away from them.

Standout Performers

The home side's midfield engine set the tone, winning possession repeatedly and dictating the speed of the attack. Wide on the right, a tireless runner delivered constant service and was involved in three of the four goals. For Akhisarspor, the goalkeeper prevented a heavier defeat with two excellent second-half saves, while the captain's refusal to stop pressing was the only real source of resistance.

What It Means

For Eskisehirspor, this is more than a result — it is a message to the rest of the TUR Kupası draw. Cup runs have historically been the club's route to national attention, and a four-goal performance against recognised opposition will make them a name nobody wants to be paired with in the next round.

Akhisarspor, meanwhile, are left with an uncomfortable review. A 4-1 defeat in knockout football ends the tie in a single evening and forces a hard look at a defensive structure that conceded four times in little over an hour.
