Adana 01 FK and Kutahyaspor could not be separated after normal time in the Turkish Cup, with the tie finishing 1-1 on 28 October 2026. The scoreline remained level after extra time, and Kutahyaspor ultimately advanced by winning the penalty shootout 4-3.

Match overview

The cup tie began at a measured pace, with both sides cautious about committing too many players forward. Adana 01 FK gradually found their rhythm and took the lead in the 27th minute. A quick transition caught Kutahyaspor out of shape, and a composed finish from inside the penalty area gave the hosts a deserved advantage.

Kutahyaspor responded well after the break. They pushed their midfield higher, increased the tempo of their passing and began to create chances. The equaliser arrived in the 63rd minute when a cross from the left was only partially cleared, allowing a midfielder to strike first-time through a crowded box.

Neither side could find a winner in the remaining minutes of normal time. Extra time produced fatigue and tension but no further goals, meaning the tie moved to a penalty shootout. Kutahyaspor held their nerve, converting four of their five kicks, while Adana 01 FK missed one crucial attempt.

Tactical story

Adana 01 FK looked to attack quickly through the middle and were rewarded for their direct approach in the first half. Their midfield pressed well and forced Kutahyaspor into several turnovers. However, the hosts struggled to maintain that intensity after the interval and dropped deeper as the game wore on.

Kutahyaspor's adjustment was key. They moved the ball more quickly from side to side, drawing Adana's midfield out of position and creating space between the lines. Their equaliser came from exactly that pattern: a wide delivery, a loose clearance and a midfielder arriving late. In extra time, both teams tired, and the tactical battle gave way to a test of concentration, which Kutahyaspor passed in the shootout.

Standout players

Kutahyaspor's goalkeeper was the hero of the shootout, saving one penalty and producing a confident overall display. Midfielder Mert Aydın was central to their comeback, driving forward and taking responsibility in possession. For Adana 01 FK, forward Emre Kaya caused problems with his movement and scored the opening goal.

What the result means

Kutahyaspor move on in the Turkish Cup after a mentally taxing night, and the manner of the victory could give them confidence for the next round. Adana 01 FK exit with frustration but also with evidence that they can compete in knockout football. The fine margins of the shootout decided a tie that was otherwise evenly balanced.
