Kayserispor and Batman Petrolspor played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Turkish First League, with the visitors twice coming from behind to earn a share of the points. Kayserispor looked in control for long spells at the RHG Enertürk Enerji Stadium, but Batman Petrolspor’s resilience and counter-attacking threat kept the match alive until the final whistle.

The home side will feel they dropped two points after leading twice, while Batman Petrolspor will take confidence from a battling away performance that showcased their character and tactical discipline.

Kayserispor start brightly

Kayserispor began the match on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Batman Petrolspor into early mistakes. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Talha Sarıarslan found space at the near post and converted a low cross from the right.

Batman Petrolspor responded well and equalised in the 39th minute through Emre Gemici, who capitalised on a quick transition and finished neatly past the goalkeeper. The goal changed the mood of the contest, but Kayserispor regained the lead shortly after half-time when Mert Örnek struck from the edge of the box.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: Talha Sarıarslan gives Kayserispor the lead with a close-range finish.
• 39th minute: Emre Gemici equalises for Batman Petrolspor after a fast counter-attack.
• 58th minute: Mert Örnek restores Kayserispor’s advantage with a low strike.
• 82nd minute: Burak Çoban scores the equaliser for Batman Petrolspor, beating the goalkeeper at his near post.

Tactical story

Kayserispor controlled possession and tried to stretch Batman Petrolspor through quick switches of play. Their full-backs pushed forward regularly, creating overloads in wide areas, but they were vulnerable to counter-attacks when those players were caught upfield.

Batman Petrolspor defended in a compact block and looked to release their forwards quickly whenever they won the ball. That approach paid off twice, with Gemici and Çoban both showing composure in decisive moments. Kayserispor pushed for a late winner, but Batman’s goalkeeper made two important saves in the closing stages.

Standout performers

Talha Sarıarslan and Mert Örnek were Kayserispor’s most dangerous players, combining well and asking questions of the visiting defence. Emre Gemici was excellent for Batman Petrolspor, leading the line with energy and intelligence, while Burak Çoban’s late equaliser capped a strong second-half cameo.

What the result means

The draw keeps Kayserispor in the promotion conversation but leaves them with mixed feelings after a game they largely controlled. Batman Petrolspor, meanwhile, will view the point as a valuable away result that builds belief. In the tightly packed Turkish First League table, such performances can prove crucial over the course of the season.
