E.S.Beni Khalled claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AS Gabes in the Tunisian Professional League 2 on 26 October 2026, with a single goal separating the sides in a tightly contested encounter at the Stade Beni Khalled.

Match overview

E.S.Beni Khalled and AS Gabes produced exactly the kind of close, cagey contest that has come to define much of the Tunisian Professional League 2 season. The home side started with purpose, pressing high and looking to force mistakes in the Gabes build-up, while the visitors grew into the game and enjoyed longer spells of possession without finding the necessary penetration.

The decisive moment arrived in the second half, when Beni Khalled turned a spell of pressure into the only goal of the night. From there, the hosts defended with determination and managed the game intelligently, limiting Gabes to half-chances and seeing out the result despite a late push from the visitors.

Key moments

The first half was short on clear chances but not on intensity. Beni Khalled's best early opportunity came from a set piece, with a header drifting narrowly wide of the far post. AS Gabes responded through a neat move down the left, but the final shot was blocked by a well-positioned defender.

After the restart, the home side raised the tempo. The breakthrough came when a quick exchange on the edge of the box opened space for a low finish into the corner, sending the home support into celebration. Gabes pushed forward in search of an equaliser and forced a series of corners, but Beni Khalled's goalkeeper produced a vital late save to preserve the clean sheet and the three points.

Tactical story

Beni Khalled's success was built on compactness and efficiency rather than prolonged possession. Their midfield stayed close to the back four, making it difficult for Gabes to play through the middle, and their forward line worked tirelessly to press the first pass. When they won the ball back, they looked to attack quickly and directly.

AS Gabes, meanwhile, tried to impose a more patient passing game. They found joy in wide areas but struggled to turn territorial advantage into clear sights of goal. The visitors' final ball was too often cut out by a disciplined home defence, and their late urgency came too late to change the outcome.

Standout performers

• Beni Khalled's goalscorer: Took the decisive chance with composure and worked hard defensively from the front.
• Beni Khalled goalkeeper: Made a crucial save in the closing stages and commanded his area well under pressure.
• AS Gabes midfield: Kept the visitors moving forward and showed good energy, but was unable to unlock a well-drilled defence.

League impact

The win is a valuable boost for E.S.Beni Khalled in the Tunisian Professional League 2 standings, strengthening their position and adding momentum to their campaign. For AS Gabes, the result is a frustrating one, particularly given the effort shown, but the margins in this division remain narrow. With promotion and relegation battles often decided by single results, Beni Khalled's ability to turn a tight game into three points could prove significant by the end of the season.
