CS Sfaxien produced a disciplined and efficient performance to defeat C.A. Bizertin 2-0 in the Tunisian Professional League 1 on September 20, 2026. Played under the lights at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri, the home side scored in each half to claim all three points and extend their impressive home record in the Tunisian top flight.

Match Overview

From the opening whistle, Sfaxien took control of possession, pushing Bizertin deep into their own half. The visitors attempted to frustrate the hosts with a compact defensive block, but Sfaxien's patient build-up play eventually unlocked the door in the 23rd minute. A clever exchange on the right flank released the overlapping full-back, whose low cross was turned in from close range by the onrushing midfielder.

Bizertin responded with a brief spell of pressure before half-time, forcing a sharp save from the Sfaxien goalkeeper, but they could not find an equaliser. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Sfaxien doubling their lead in the 67th minute through a well-worked set-piece. A whipped corner from the left was met with a powerful header at the near post, leaving the Bizertin keeper with no chance.

Key Moments

• 23' Goal: Sfaxien's attacking midfielder finishes a flowing team move to make it 1-0.
• 41' Chance: Bizertin's best opportunity of the first half is tipped over the bar by the Sfaxien goalkeeper.
• 67' Goal: A near-post header from a corner doubles the lead and settles the contest.
• 84' Chance: Sfaxien almost add a third on the counter, but the shot sails wide.

Tactical Story

Sfaxien lined up in a 4-2-3-1, with the full-backs pushing high to stretch Bizertin's back four. The midfield double pivot controlled the tempo, recycling possession and cutting off counter-attacks. Bizertin, meanwhile, sat in a 4-4-2 block but struggled to transition when they won the ball back, often isolating their two strikers. The hosts' pressing in the middle third forced numerous turnovers, leading to sustained periods of pressure.

Standout Players

Sfaxien's captain was a calming presence at the base of midfield, while the right winger tormented his marker throughout. The goalscorers deservedly took the headlines, but the centre-back pairing was equally impressive, dealing comfortably with Bizertin's long balls. For the visitors, their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, and their left-back showed glimpses of quality going forward.

Table and Season Impact

The three points lift CS Sfaxien into the upper reaches of the Tunisian Professional League 1 standings, keeping them in contention for continental qualification. For C.A. Bizertin, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency as they look to climb away from the lower half of the table. Sfaxien will look to build on this result in their next fixture, while Bizertin must regroup quickly to avoid a slump.
