Club Polideportivo El Ejido vs Oceano Kerkennah: El Ejido Secure 1-0 Home Win

Club Polideportivo El Ejido recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Oceano Kerkennah in their Tunisian Professional League 2 clash on 18 October 2026, with a single goal and a disciplined defensive display proving enough to claim all three points. The match was decided by a decisive moment in the second half, but the foundation of the win was laid by El Ejido’s organization and control without the ball.

The home side started with a clear intention to dominate possession, moving the ball quickly across the pitch and looking to isolate their wide players against Oceano Kerkennah’s full-backs. The visitors, meanwhile, sat deep and looked to break through quick transitions. That contrast in styles made for a tight but intriguing contest.

Match Overview

Chances were limited in the first half. El Ejido controlled the ball but struggled to find a way through a compact and well-drilled Oceano Kerkennah defence. The visitors had a few promising counter-attacking moments, but their final pass lacked the precision needed to seriously test the home goalkeeper.

The breakthrough came after the interval when El Ejido increased the intensity of their pressing and forced a series of corners and free kicks. From one of those set pieces, the home side managed to create enough space for a decisive finish, sending the home supporters into celebration. Oceano Kerkennah pushed for a response, but El Ejido dropped deeper, protected the central areas and limited their opponents to speculative efforts from distance.

Key Moments

• First-half control: El Ejido dominated possession but found Oceano Kerkennah’s defensive block difficult to break down.
• Set-piece breakthrough: The home side opened the scoring after a well-worked set piece created a shooting opportunity inside the box.
• Late defending: El Ejido’s back line dealt with a late surge from Oceano Kerkennah, clearing several dangerous deliveries to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

El Ejido’s performance was built on patience. They circulated the ball with purpose, trying to draw Oceano Kerkennah out of their defensive shape, and their midfielders were quick to recover loose balls. The full-backs provided width, but El Ejido were careful not to overcommit, ensuring they remained protected against the counter-attack.

Oceano Kerkennah’s plan was clear: stay compact, frustrate the home side and strike on the break. They executed the defensive side of that plan well for long periods, but the set-piece goal forced them to change their approach. Once they began to push forward, spaces appeared, and El Ejido managed the game intelligently by slowing the tempo and keeping possession in the final minutes.

Standout Performers and Season Impact

El Ejido’s goalkeeper deserved credit for a composed performance, handling crosses well and making one important late save. The centre-back pairing was also excellent, winning headers and reading danger throughout. In midfield, the home captain set the tone with disciplined positioning and smart distribution, while the goalscorer’s movement in the box proved decisive.

The win boosts Club Polideportivo El Ejido’s standing in the Tunisian Professional League 2 table and gives them a valuable clean sheet to build on. Oceano Kerkennah will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after defending so resolutely, but their performance showed enough quality to suggest they can pick up points in upcoming fixtures.
