Tactical story

Udon United’s win was built on their ability to dominate the middle third for long spells. Their midfield pressed aggressively, won second balls and supplied the front line with quick service. The movement of Chaiyaphat Somsri and Rattana Wongsawat pulled Khonkaen’s defence out of shape, creating space for late runs into the box.

Khonkaen Mordindang FC were at their best in transition. Their equaliser came from a swift break, and they continued to look dangerous whenever they won possession in wide areas. However, they struggled to deal with Udon’s set pieces and were punished for giving away too much space in central areas. Udon’s ability to respond after conceding was crucial, and their fourth goal ended any lingering doubt.

Standout performers

Chaiyaphat Somsri was the attacking hero for Udon United, scoring twice and leading the line with energy. Rattana Wongsawat was equally influential, creating chances and scoring a fine goal. Substitute Kittisak Rungruang made an immediate impact with the fourth goal. For Khonkaen Mordindang FC, Anurak Pholdee was a constant threat on the counter and scored a well-taken goal, while their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the match competitive.

Thai League 3 impact

The three points give Udon United a valuable boost in the Thai League 3 standings and reinforce their attacking credentials. Scoring four goals at home will please the coaching staff, though the two conceded goals will provide areas for review. Khonkaen Mordindang FC leave with no points but with evidence that they can hurt teams on the break. In a competitive league, Udon’s ability to turn a high-scoring contest into a win could prove important as the season progresses.
