Muang Loei United 1-1 Kanchanaburi Power FC: Hosts Fight Back for a Point in Thai League 2

Muang Loei United and Kanchanaburi Power FC shared the points in Thai League 2 on October 17, 2026, drawing 1-1 after a 19:30 kick-off. The home side controlled much of the game and created the better chances, but Kanchanaburi’s resilience and threat on the counter ensured the visitors left with a valuable point.

Match overview

Muang Loei United began the match with a clear attacking intent, pushing bodies forward and looking to stretch Kanchanaburi Power FC down both flanks. The hosts dominated possession in the opening half and forced several corners, but the final ball was often just out of reach. Kanchanaburi defended deep and looked to break quickly whenever they regained possession, and that approach paid off before the interval.

After going behind, Muang Loei increased the tempo in the second half. The home side moved the ball more quickly, pressed higher up the pitch, and eventually found the equalizer their pressure deserved. Kanchanaburi responded by dropping deeper and defending their point, while Muang Loei pushed for a winner that never quite arrived.

Key moments

The opening goal came against the run of play. Kanchanaburi won the ball in midfield and launched a rapid counter-attack, moving the ball into the box before finishing with a low effort that beat the Muang Loei goalkeeper. It was a reminder of the visitors’ ability to punish teams with quick, direct play.

Muang Loei’s equalizer arrived in the second half after a sustained spell of pressure. A well-worked move down the right created space for a cross, and the home side converted from inside the penalty area. The goal lifted the crowd and prompted a wave of home attacks, but Kanchanaburi’s defence held firm in the closing stages.

Tactical story

Muang Loei’s game plan revolved around possession and wide overloads, with their midfield looking to feed the full-backs and wingers in advanced positions. Kanchanaburi, meanwhile, sat in a compact defensive shape and relied on quick transitions. The tactical battle was clear: home pressure against away resilience. Muang Loei had more of the ball, but Kanchanaburi’s organization and counter-attacking threat kept the match balanced.

Standout performers

Muang Loei’s winger was a constant source of danger, beating defenders and delivering dangerous balls into the box. Their central midfielder also dictated play effectively in the second half. For Kanchanaburi, the goalkeeper made several key saves, while the defence showed composure under late pressure.

What the point means

The draw gives both teams a point in the Thai League 2 standings, but it will feel different for each. Muang Loei will be frustrated not to have converted their dominance into a win, while Kanchanaburi will be pleased with an away point against a side that controlled large parts of the game. In a league where promotion and play-off places are fiercely contested, such results can prove important over the course of the season.
