Huracanes Izcalli FC II is the reserve and development squad of Huracanes Izcalli FC, a Mexican football club based in Cuautitlán Izcalli, State of Mexico. The team competes in the lower tiers of Mexican football, primarily serving as a bridge between the club's youth academy and the first team. Known for its emphasis on player progression, Huracanes Izcalli FC II provides a competitive environment for young talents to adapt to senior football before making the step up.

Club Overview and Identity

Founded as part of the Huracanes Izcalli project, the reserve side carries the same crest and colors as its parent club: a striking combination of orange and black. The team plays its home matches at the Estadio Municipal de Cuautitlán Izcalli, a modest venue that accommodates around 3,000 spectators. While the first team garners most of the local attention, the II squad has carved out its own niche, drawing support from families and scouts eager to spot the next breakout star.

Competitive Structure and League

Huracanes Izcalli FC II currently features in the Liga Premier de México – Serie B, the third tier of the Mexican football pyramid. The league is divided into several groups based on geographical proximity, and the team competes in Group 5 alongside other reserve sides and independent clubs from the Mexico City metropolitan area. Matches are typically played on weekends, with a mix of morning and afternoon kickoffs to accommodate the broader schedule of the first team.

Development Philosophy and Squad

The primary objective of Huracanes Izcalli FC II is to develop players for the senior squad. The coaching staff focuses on tactical discipline, technical refinement, and physical conditioning. Several graduates have gone on to earn professional contracts, including a handful who have represented the club in the Ascenso MX. The squad is a blend of academy prospects, trialists, and a few experienced players who provide leadership on and off the pitch.

Recent Seasons and Achievements

In recent campaigns, Huracanes Izcalli FC II has consistently finished in the upper half of its group, narrowly missing out on the promotion playoffs on a couple of occasions. The team's best performance came in the 2022–23 season, when it reached the group semifinals before falling to a more experienced opponent. Individual honors have also come the way of its players, with the club's top scorer earning a call-up to the first team midway through the season.

Rivalries and Matchday Experience

Matches against other reserve teams from the Mexico City area often attract a decent crowd, especially when the first team is not in action. The most heated rivalry is with the reserve side of a neighboring club, a fixture that brings added intensity due to the proximity of the two youth academies. Supporters appreciate the affordable ticket prices, the family-friendly atmosphere, and the chance to see future stars in action.

For Huracanes Izcalli FC II, success is measured not only in results but in the number of players who progress to the first team. As the club continues to invest in its youth setup, the II squad remains a vital cog in the machine, offering a platform for young footballers to chase their dreams.
