Athletico Paranaense B and Londrina PR shared the points in a 0-0 draw in the Taca FPF, a tight and tactical contest that lacked goals but not tension. Both sides had spells of pressure and moments of promise in the final third, but resolute defending and some important goalkeeping kept the scoreline blank.

Match overview

Athletico Paranaense B started with more of the ball, using their younger legs to press high and force Londrina into early mistakes. The home side created the first half’s clearest opening when a cross from the right found a forward in the box, but the effort was blocked by a defender. Londrina grew into the game and threatened on the counter, using quick transitions to test Athletico’s back line. Neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled for long stretches, but the intensity remained high.

The second half was more open. Athletico Paranaense B pushed their full-backs forward and increased the number of crosses into the box, while Londrina defended deeper and looked to hit on the break. A goal was ruled out for offside midway through the half, and that decision added to the sense that one moment could decide the match. In the closing stages, both teams had chances from set pieces, but the defences held firm.

Tactical story

Athletico Paranaense B’s game was built on possession and width. They tried to stretch Londrina with switches of play and overlaps, but the final ball was often too heavy or well defended. Londrina PR were happy to defend in a compact block and attack through quick breaks, and their discipline made them difficult to break down. The visitors also defended set pieces well, heading away several dangerous deliveries in the second half.

The match became a test of patience. Athletico had more of the ball but struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised defence. Londrina were dangerous on the counter but could not find the final pass. As the game wore on, both teams seemed wary of committing too many players forward, and the draw became the most likely outcome.

Standout performers

Londrina PR’s goalkeeper was excellent, making a key save in the first half and controlling his area well from crosses. Their central defender was also impressive, winning headers and making several important interceptions. For Athletico Paranaense B, the right-sided midfielder was the most creative player, repeatedly finding space and delivering dangerous balls into the box. The Athletico goalkeeper also deserves credit for a sharp stop on the counter-attack.

What it means

The point keeps both teams in the hunt in the Taca FPF, though neither will be fully satisfied with a goalless draw. Athletico Paranaense B showed promise in possession but will need more cutting edge in the final third if they are to turn dominance into wins. Londrina PR demonstrated their defensive resilience and counter-attacking threat, and they will view the clean sheet as a solid platform. In a competition where fine margins often decide progress, both sides will know that better finishing could make the difference in their next outing.
