Tactical story

Homs defended with discipline in the closing stages, dropping into a deep block and forcing Al-Shorta to cross from wider positions. The home side's late pressure produced a disallowed goal and a few nervous moments, but Homs Al Fidaa managed the game well in stoppage time.

Standout performers

Mahmoud Al-Ali will take the headlines for the winning goal, but goalkeeper Omar Al-Halabi was equally important, making a key save at 1-0 and commanding his box well. Defender Khaled Al-Masri produced a crucial late block, while Youssef Al-Khatib's assist underlined his quality on the left. For Al-Shorta Damascus, the midfield worked hard to create chances, but the final ball was missing too often.

Table impact

The win gives Homs Al Fidaa SC an important three points on the road and lifts them in the Syrian Premier League standings. Al-Shorta Damascus remain with plenty to do after a home defeat, though their performance showed enough attacking intent to suggest they can respond in their next fixture. For Homs Al Fidaa, the result is a strong marker of their defensive resilience and ability to grind out narrow victories.
