FC Wohlen secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over SC Buochs in the Switzerland Division 2 League on September 26, 2026. The home side came from behind to claim all three points in a match that was decided by fine margins and a late surge.

Match Overview

Buochs started the brighter of the two teams and took a surprise lead midway through the first half, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to slot the ball past the goalkeeper. Wohlen responded well, controlling possession and probing for an equaliser, but they had to wait until after the interval to make their pressure count.

An early second-half goal restored parity, and from there Wohlen looked the more likely winners. The decisive moment arrived in the closing stages when a well-placed header from a corner found the net, sparking celebrations among the home crowd.

Key Moments

• 27th minute – Buochs take the lead: A quick counter-attack caught Wohlen out, and a cool finish gave the visitors an unexpected advantage.
• 52nd minute – Wohlen equalise: A driving run from midfield opened up space, and a low shot from the edge of the box levelled the score.
• 84th minute – Wohlen win it: A whipped corner was met by a powerful header at the near post, completing the turnaround.

Tactical Story

Wohlen set up in a 4-2-3-1, looking to dominate the ball and use their full-backs to stretch Buochs' narrow midfield. After falling behind, they increased the tempo and began to overload the flanks, which eventually led to the equaliser. Buochs, meanwhile, sat deep and looked to hit on the break, a tactic that worked well in the first half but became less effective as the game wore on.

In the final 20 minutes, Wohlen pushed their defensive line higher and committed more bodies forward. The introduction of a tall striker from the bench gave them an extra target in the box, and it was his presence that created the chaos for the winning goal.

Standout Players

Wohlen's attacking midfielder was the engine of the comeback, driving forward with purpose and scoring the equaliser. The centre-back who headed the winner also produced a solid defensive display, winning several important duels. For Buochs, the goalkeeper kept his side in the game with a string of saves, while their lone striker worked hard with limited service.

Season Impact

This victory moves Wohlen up the Switzerland Division 2 League table and extends their unbeaten run on home soil. Buochs remain in a precarious position and will need to turn narrow defeats into points quickly. The three points could prove crucial in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested season.
