Tactical story

Grand Saconnex began with a high-energy approach, pressing Lugano U21’s back line and looking to force mistakes. That plan paid off early, but it also left space behind the midfield once the visitors settled. Lugano U21 adjusted by dropping a midfielder deeper to help build play and then used quick switches to isolate the full-backs.

In the second half, Lugano U21’s midfield trio controlled the tempo and kept Grand Saconnex chasing the ball. The hosts remained dangerous from set pieces, but their attacking threat faded as the game wore on.

Standout players

Ferrari was central to Lugano U21’s comeback, scoring the equaliser and creating problems between the lines throughout. Bernardini’s match-winning movement was another highlight, while Rochat was Grand Saconnex’s most persistent attacker. Lugano U21’s goalkeeper also made a key save late on to protect the three points.

Table and season impact

The win gives Lugano U21 valuable momentum in the Switzerland Division 1 League and strengthens their position in the upper half of the table. Grand Saconnex will be frustrated to have taken the lead and not held on, but their early-season form still offers reasons for encouragement. The result highlights the fine margins in a division where young sides and senior teams frequently produce tight contests.
