FC Thun U21 1-1 Wohlen: Spoils Shared in Swiss Division 2 League

FC Thun U21 and Wohlen played out a 1-1 draw in the Swiss Division 2 League on September 19, 2026, at the Thun youth academy ground. The result was a fair reflection of a contest that mixed youthful energy with Wohlen’s experienced game management.

Thun U21 began brightly, pressing high and moving the ball quickly through the thirds. Their early dominance was rewarded with the opening goal, but Wohlen responded well after the break and equalized with a well-worked move. Both teams had chances to win it late on, but a combination of good goalkeeping and rushed finishing kept the score level.

Key Moments

• 23' — 1-0 Thun U21: A flowing move down the right ended with a composed finish from Noah Berger inside the penalty area.
• 58' — 1-1 Wohlen: Wohlen equalized through Marco Frei, who converted a low cross at the near post.
• 74': Thun U21 hit the post after a strong run from midfield.
• 88': Wohlen’s goalkeeper made a late save to deny Thun U21 a winner.

Tactical Story

Thun U21 played with high tempo and looked to overload the flanks, using their full-backs aggressively. Wohlen, by contrast, sat deeper and looked to counter through quick transitions. The young Thun side struggled to break down a compact block in the final 20 minutes, and Wohlen grew in confidence as the game wore on.

The draw highlighted a familiar challenge for development sides: controlling spells of possession without turning them into enough clear chances. Wohlen’s discipline out of possession was key to leaving with a point.

Standout Players

Noah Berger was lively for Thun U21, linking play and taking his goal well. In midfield, the young captain kept the tempo high, though space became harder to find after the break. For Wohlen, Marco Frei was the standout, not only for his equalizer but for his work rate and hold-up play.

Table Impact

One point apiece keeps both sides moving in the Swiss Division 2 League table. Wohlen remain difficult to beat, while Thun U21 continue their development with another competitive performance against senior opposition. The result will feel more satisfying for Wohlen, who had to come from behind, but Thun U21 will also take positives from a bright first-half display.
