Taverne produced a stirring late comeback to defeat FC Baden 1897 3-2 in the Switzerland Division 2 League on 3 October 2026. Trailing with less than 20 minutes remaining, Taverne scored twice late on to snatch all three points from a match that had seemed to be slipping away.

FC Baden 1897 had controlled large parts of the contest and led 2-1 after the hour mark, but Taverne’s persistence and impactful substitutions turned the game on its head. The away win adds another dramatic chapter to Taverne’s season and leaves Baden frustrated at home.

Match Overview

Baden started confidently, moving the ball quickly and creating the first clear chance. Their early goal settled any nerves, and they dictated the tempo for much of the first half. Taverne, however, stayed within touching distance and equalised before half-time through a well-worked move.

Baden regained the lead in the second half and appeared to be managing the game effectively. But Taverne raised their intensity, pressing higher and committing more players forward. The reward came with two late goals, completing a comeback that will be remembered for its timing and ruthlessness.

Tactical Story

FC Baden 1897’s game plan was built on patient possession and drawing Taverne out of their defensive shape. It worked well for long periods, with Fischer and Meier finding space between the lines. However, as the game wore on, Baden dropped deeper and invited pressure, allowing Taverne to sustain attacks.

Taverne’s manager made attacking changes in the second half, switching to a more direct approach and getting more bodies into the box. The equaliser came from a set-piece, and the winner arrived from open play as Baden’s defence failed to track Bernasconi’s late run. It was a tactical swing that decided the match.

Standout Players

Luca Bernasconi’s late winner made him the hero for Taverne, but Simone Bianchi’s equaliser was equally important in shifting the momentum. Mattia Rossi also impressed with his movement and finishing. For FC Baden 1897, Marco Fischer and Luca Meier both scored and linked play well, but the team’s inability to close out the match will be the main talking point.

Season Impact

Taverne move upward in the Switzerland Division 2 League standings with a victory that demonstrates their fighting spirit. FC Baden 1897 remain a dangerous side, but this defeat highlights the fine margins in the division. Baden will need to respond quickly, while Taverne will hope this dramatic win becomes a turning point in their campaign.
