Bruhl SG produced a controlled 2-0 away victory over Koniz in the Switzerland Cup on 17 October 2026, scoring in each half to secure a place in the next round.

Match overview

Bruhl SG were the sharper side throughout and took the lead before half-time, settling any early nerves. Koniz tried to respond after the break, but the visitors defended with discipline and added a second goal late on to put the result beyond doubt. The clean sheet was just as valuable as the goals, reflecting a solid team performance from front to back.

Koniz had spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised Bruhl defence. The visitors pressed effectively in midfield, forced turnovers and used the space behind Koniz’s full-backs to build attacks. Once the second goal went in, the tie was effectively over.

Key moments

• 17th minute: Bruhl SG’s early pressure produced a corner and a headed chance that went just wide.
• 34th minute: The opener arrived when Bruhl SG broke through the middle and finished with a low strike.
• 52nd minute: Koniz’s best chance came from a set piece, but the header was cleared off the line.
• 81st minute: Bruhl SG doubled the lead with a well-worked move, finishing from close range.
• 88th minute: Koniz pushed forward late, but the visitors held their shape and kept the clean sheet intact.

Tactical story

Bruhl SG’s pressing structure made life difficult for Koniz in midfield. The visitors closed down quickly, won second balls and prevented their opponents from settling into a rhythm. When Bruhl had possession, they looked to attack quickly, especially through the wide areas, and their willingness to commit players forward paid off.

Koniz improved after the interval and tried to stretch the game, but the early goal had already forced them into a more open approach. That suited Bruhl SG, who defended well and used the spaces left behind to create the second goal. The visitors’ composure in the final 10 minutes was a key part of the result.

Standout performers

Bruhl SG’s midfield was excellent at breaking up play and setting the tempo, while the centre-backs dealt confidently with Koniz’s late pressure. The second goalscorer showed good movement and composure in the box. For Koniz, the goalkeeper made several important saves, and the captain tried to drive the team forward, but the hosts lacked the final touch.

Cup impact

The 2-0 win sends Bruhl SG into the next round of the Switzerland Cup and gives them confidence for the weeks ahead. Koniz are left to focus on their league campaign after a cup exit that was built on small margins. For Bruhl SG, the challenge now is to carry this level of defensive discipline into the next knockout fixture.
