AIK claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away win against IK Sirius FK in the Sweden Allsvenskan on 24 October 2026, using a disciplined second-half performance to turn a tight contest in their favour at Studenternas IP. The result gives AIK another important three points in the race for European places, while Sirius were left to rue a spell of pressure that did not translate into a second goal.

Match overview

Sirius started with intent in front of their home support, pushing numbers forward through the wide areas and forcing AIK into a deep defensive block. The visitors, however, looked dangerous on the counter-attack and took the lead midway through the first half when a quick transition ended with a low finish from inside the penalty area. Sirius responded well after the break and equalised through a header following a sustained period of possession, but AIK regained control and found the winner with just over ten minutes remaining.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: AIK open the scoring after a fast break, finishing calmly past the Sirius goalkeeper.
• 51st minute: IK Sirius FK equalise from a corner, with a powerful header at the near post.
• 78th minute: AIK score the decisive goal, converting a cut-back from the right flank.
• 89th minute: Sirius force a late save from the AIK goalkeeper as they push for a second equaliser.

Tactical story

AIK’s midfield compactness was the foundation of the win. They allowed Sirius to circulate the ball in front of them but limited clear entries into the central corridor, then attacked quickly when turnovers arrived. Sirius enjoyed more possession and delivered a number of promising crosses, yet their final ball lacked precision in the closing stages. The away side’s ability to defend their box late on proved just as valuable as their two goals.

Standout players

AIK’s goalkeeper produced two important saves, including the late stop that preserved the win, while the visiting captain controlled the tempo in midfield and helped his side manage the final minutes. For Sirius, the left-sided attacker was a constant outlet and created the equalising goal, but the home side needed more from their central forwards in the final third.

Table and season impact

The victory strengthens AIK’s position in the upper half of the Allsvenskan standings and keeps them within touching distance of the European qualification spots. Sirius remain in the congested middle section of the table, where a run of positive results could quickly change their outlook. The head-to-head record now favours AIK again, and the away side will take confidence from a result built on efficiency rather than dominance.
