The Sweden Women's Cup delivered a reminder of the gap that can open up between clubs from different tiers, as IK Uppsala Women cruised to a composed 3-0 away victory over Hu Ge (w) in a tie played on 30 September 2026. A goalless scoreline at the break told only half the story, with Uppsala's control of possession and territory eventually translating into three unanswered goals after the interval.

Match Overview

Uppsala arrived with the clearer structure and the sharper attacking patterns, setting up in a shape that allowed their wide players to stretch Hu Ge's back line from the first whistle. The hosts sat deep, looking to spring counter-attacks and use set pieces as their route into the game, and for 45 minutes the plan worked well enough to keep the tie level.

The visitors, though, never panicked. Their midfield kept recycling possession, forcing Hu Ge to chase shadows and burn energy, and the pressure told in the second half when the deadlock broke and the contest quickly tilted.

Key Moments

• First half: Uppsala dominated the ball but found Hu Ge's goalkeeper and defensive block stubborn, with several shots blocked in the penalty area.
• Opening goal: A quick combination down the right opened the scoring after the restart, the finish placed low beyond the goalkeeper.
• Second goal: Hu Ge pushed forward searching for an equaliser, and the space left behind was punished clinically on the counter.
• Third goal: A late third sealed the result and removed any lingering doubt about the outcome of the tie.

Tactical Story

The match was decided in the middle third. Uppsala's midfielders consistently won second balls and switched play quickly, which forced Hu Ge's defensive line to shift horizontally again and again. Once the hosts tired, gaps appeared between the lines, and Uppsala's runners exploited them with direct, purposeful football.

Hu Ge's best moments came from transitions, but a lack of support in the final third meant their counter-attacks too often ended with a hopeful shot or a lost duel. Defensively they defended their box bravely, but a clean sheet was always going to be difficult against a side with this much attacking quality.

Standout Performers

Uppsala's forward line shared the credit, with the opening goalscorer setting the tone for a dominant second half. Their goalkeeper was largely untroubled but handled a couple of dangerous crosses confidently, while the centre-back pairing dealt with long balls into the channels without major alarm. For Hu Ge, the goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable in the first half and the captain in midfield worked tirelessly to disrupt Uppsala's rhythm.

What It Means

The 3-0 result sends IK Uppsala Women through and continues their strong form in the Sweden Women's Cup, where a deeper run now looks a realistic target. For Hu Ge (w), the exit is a chance to refocus on league commitments, taking encouragement from a competitive first half against a stronger opponent. Cup nights like these often serve as a useful measuring stick, and Hu Ge's players will have learned exactly what level of intensity is required to compete over 90 minutes.
