Landskrona BoIS 4-0 GIF Sundsvall: Ruthless Hosts Run Riot in Superettan

Landskrona BoIS produced one of their most complete performances of the season, dismantling GIF Sundsvall 4-0 in the Sweden Superettan on September 16, 2026, at Landskrona IP. The emphatic victory was built on a devastating first-half display and leaves Sundsvall deep in relegation trouble.

Match Overview

Landskrona were on the front foot from the first whistle, and they took the lead in the 12th minute when winger Elias Nilsson cut inside and fired a low shot into the bottom corner. The home side doubled their advantage just eight minutes later, striker Marcus Pettersson heading home from a corner. Sundsvall had no answer to Landskrona's high tempo and were three down before half-time when Pettersson turned provider, squaring for midfielder Viktor Andersson to tap in.

The second half was more subdued, but Landskrona still added a fourth in the 68th minute through substitute Alexander Holm, who curled a beautiful effort into the top corner. Sundsvall, who offered little going forward, were left to rue a series of defensive errors.

Key Moments

• 12' – Elias Nilsson opens the scoring with a fine individual effort.
• 20' – Marcus Pettersson doubles the lead with a powerful header.
• 41' – Viktor Andersson makes it 3-0 after a slick team move.
• 68' – Alexander Holm adds a fourth with a curling strike.
• 84' – Sundsvall's best chance is cleared off the line by Landskrona defender Johan Berg.

Tactical Story

Landskrona's 4-2-3-1 formation allowed their attacking midfielders to drift inside and overload Sundsvall's back four. The hosts pressed aggressively, winning the ball high up the pitch and launching quick counter-attacks. Sundsvall, set up in a 5-3-2, were unable to cope with the movement of Landskrona's front four, and their wing-backs were repeatedly caught out of position.

The visitors did improve slightly after the break, but by then the game was over as a contest. Landskrona's manager was able to rotate his squad, giving valuable minutes to fringe players, while Sundsvall's coach will have plenty to address on the training ground.

Standout Players

Marcus Pettersson was the star of the show with a goal and an assist, leading the line with intelligence and power. Elias Nilsson tormented the Sundsvall defence all evening, while Viktor Andersson controlled the midfield. For Sundsvall, goalkeeper Andreas Lindqvist prevented an even heavier defeat with several saves.

Superettan Table Impact

The win lifts Landskrona BoIS into the promotion play-off places, boosting their confidence ahead of a tricky run of fixtures. GIF Sundsvall remain in the relegation zone, and with the gap to safety growing, they face a crucial run of matches in the coming weeks. The 4-0 scoreline will serve as a warning to the rest of the league about Landskrona's attacking potential.
