Sandvikens IF Women fell to a dramatic 4-3 defeat at home to Husqvarna Women in the Swedish Elitettan on Saturday, despite taking a 3-1 lead early in the second half. The visitors mounted a remarkable comeback to snatch all three points and move into the top half of the table.

Fast Start from Sandvikens

The hosts flew out of the traps. Forward Emma Larsson scored in the 4th minute, rounding the keeper after a through ball from captain Karin Johansson. Husqvarna equalised through Frida Ekström in the 18th minute, but Sandvikens regained the lead before halftime; midfielder Linnea Karlsson curled a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner.

Three minutes into the second half, Larsson scored her second of the night, smashing home from a corner to give Sandvikens a seemingly comfortable 3-1 advantage.

Husqvarna's Stunning Fightback

Rather than wilt, Husqvarna responded with a vengeance. Coach Maria Svensson made a tactical switch, pushing an extra player forward, and it paid off immediately. Ekström scored her second in the 56th minute, latching onto a loose ball in the box. Then, in the 64th minute, substitute Johanna Nilsson equalised with a powerful drive from the edge of the area.

With the momentum firmly on their side, Husqvarna completed the turnaround in the 79th minute. Winger Sara Lindqvist cut inside and fired a low shot that deflected off a defender and into the net, leaving the Sandvikens goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Late Pressure and Final Whistle

Sandvikens pushed desperately for an equaliser in the closing minutes, hitting the post through Larsson in the 88th minute, but Husqvarna's defence held firm. The final whistle sparked wild celebrations from the visiting bench.

League Implications

The defeat keeps Sandvikens in 11th place with 12 points, now just two points above the relegation zone. Husqvarna climb to 8th with 16 points, moving clear of the bottom four. For the hosts, the collapse will be a bitter pill to swallow after dominating large periods of the match.

Sandvikens will need to regroup quickly as they face second-placed team Mallbacken next weekend. Husqvarna, buoyed by this win, host bottom side Bollstanäs.
