Elfsborg Women produced a commanding 4-1 away victory over Örebro Söder Women in the Sweden Elitettan on 24 October 2026, strengthening their position in the upper reaches of the table with a performance built on pressing, width and clinical finishing. The visitors were the more assertive side from the opening minutes and turned a competitive first half into a clear win after the break.

Match overview

Örebro Söder Women began with a compact shape and tried to deny Elfsborg space in central midfield, but the visitors quickly established control by switching play from side to side. Elfsborg’s front three stretched the home back line, creating gaps between full-back and centre-back, and the opening goal arrived from exactly that kind of wide overload. Örebro responded well for a spell and found an equaliser through a well-worked set piece, but Elfsborg regained the lead before half-time and never looked back.

After the interval, Elfsborg managed the game with maturity. They pressed high enough to force turnovers but kept enough bodies behind the ball to protect against Örebro’s counterattacks. Two further goals in the second half reflected their superior chance creation and finishing, while Örebro’s goalkeeper made several saves to keep the margin from becoming even larger.

Key moments

• 11th minute: Elfsborg opened the scoring after a high turnover, with a low cross converted from close range.
• 28th minute: Örebro Söder equalised from a set piece, briefly bringing the home crowd into the contest.
• 44th minute: Elfsborg restored their lead just before the break, finishing a quick move down the right.
• 63rd minute: A counterattack made it 3-1, with Elfsborg’s forward finishing calmly one-on-one.
• 81st minute: Elfsborg added a fourth late on, capping a dominant second-half display.

Tactical story

Elfsborg’s 4-3-3 shape caused problems throughout. Their midfield trio won second balls consistently, allowing the wide forwards to attack isolated defenders. Örebro tried to press in short bursts, but once Elfsborg bypassed the first line, the home side looked vulnerable to quick switches and runners in behind. The visitors also defended their box well in the final 20 minutes, limiting Örebro to mostly speculative efforts.

Standout performers

Elfsborg’s central midfielder dictated the tempo and repeatedly broke lines with forward passes, while the wide attackers provided the penetration that Örebro struggled to contain. The away goalkeeper was alert when called upon, but the biggest credit goes to Elfsborg’s collective pressing structure. For Örebro, the goalkeeper’s first-half saves and the set-piece equaliser were the bright spots on a difficult afternoon.

Season impact

The three points give Elfsborg Women valuable momentum in the Elitettan standings and a healthy boost to their goal difference. For Örebro Söder Women, the result is a reminder of the gap to the division’s sharper attacking sides; they will need a more resilient defensive display in their next fixture to avoid slipping further in the table.
